Two news items for Southwind Rail Trail users. Dry weather has created cracks on the trail capable of causing accidents. Some of the trail warning flags have been unofficially removed creating potential hazards. To avoid false security, all warning flags have been pulled for the time being. Individual attention and discretion in walking and riding is required.

Additionally, with the increased presence of E-Bikes reports have been received of cyclists on the trail traveling at speeds in excess of those allowed on Kansas Wildlife & Park Trails. Trail Rights held on the Southwind Railtrail trail are independently held and user's repeatedly abusing the trail could be given notice as to trespassing.

Sunday morning 06-14-2026 - Word is there may be downed limbs and foliage on the railtrail after last nights storm. Dave Fontaine sends word that he will get to it and properly remove it. If you happen to come upon such storm damage you are asked to go around it, but please leave it on the trail for Dave to remove.

Friday, December 19th 12:49 p.m. - The strong winds have left a number of trees and limbs across the trail. Clean up is taking place, however please be mindful some areas may be blocked by fallen limbs until clean up is completed. Use caution. JK SWRT
