A Friendly Reminder from Inwood Kiwanis

Inwood Kiwanis greatly appreciates everyone who donates cans and bottles! Can donations are the organization’s biggest fundraiser, and your support helps Kiwanis continue giving back to our community.

Kiwanis has noticed some garbage and other non-returnable items making their way into the can collection cage, so they asked us to share a few reminders:

• Please do not crush Iowa redeemable cans. Crushed cans cannot be turned in for the Iowa deposit refund.

• Plastic pop bottles are welcome.

• Water bottles should go in your regular recycling, rather than the Kiwanis collection.

• Food cans (vegetable cans, soup cans, etc.) should also go in your regular recycling.

Here's more information on Inwood's recycling:http://inwoodiowa.com/site/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Herms-Recycling-Guide.pdf

• Please do not leave garbage, household items, or other non-returnable materials in or around the collection cage.

Sorting the donated cans takes quite a bit of volunteer time, and following these guidelines makes the job much easier. If you'd like to start donating cans, you can find the Inwood Kiwanis can bin on the south side of Kippley Law Office Building at 407 S Main St, Inwood.

Thank you for supporting Inwood Kiwanis and their work in our community!

Faces of Inwood: Meet Aaron and Michelle Johnson

Moved to Inwood in 2004. Our 3 girls were raised here - Maddie, Neave and Juliette (JJ).

This community always steps up and works together when there is a need. On so many occasions we have witnessed selfless acts of service. From those who volunteer at the community Vacation Bible School, teach Sunday school at our churches, help with Play Days, show up for activities in the nursing home, clean up after storms, coach kids in various sports teams, fight fires and provide emergent medical care (just to name a few, we could go on!), we are proud to live in a small community with a big heart.

Let’s celebrate the amazing people who make our city so special!
