PUBLIC NOTICE

The City of Inverness Public Works Department announces paving work taking place in the Inverness Government Center parking lot on Monday, June 8, through Wednesday, June 10.

Construction activities will be occurring throughout the project area during this time. To minimize disruption, approximately half of the parking lot will remain open and accessible at all times. Visitors are advised to use caution when entering the area.

At the Inverness City Council meeting on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, the Council presented a proclamation recognizing Brannen Bank's 100th Anniversary.

Founded in 1926, Brannen Bank has been a cornerstone of our community for 100 years. What began as a small hometown bank has grown to serve customers throughout Citrus, Marion, and Hernando counties while remaining family-owned and committed to personalized service.

The proclamation recognized Brannen Bank's century of supporting local businesses, strengthening the local economy, and investing in the people and organizations that make our community special.

Congratulations to Brannen Bank on this historic milestone, and thank you for 100 years of service to our community!

At the Inverness City Council meeting on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, the City Council presented several Cooter Kudos Awards in recognition of longstanding support of the Big Bass, Bluegrass & BBQ event.

Apopka Marine and Linda Bega were recognized for their foundational role in helping establish and grow the Joe Bega Big Bass Classic from its earliest days. Their continued support, including event sponsorships, giveaways for anglers, and assistance with tournament activities, has helped the event become a beloved Inverness tradition.

Dale McClellan was recognized for his dedication to expanding Big Bass, Bluegrass & BBQ into the community event it is today. Through his efforts in developing the bluegrass and BBQ components, building partnerships, and supporting event planning, Dale has helped create an experience that brings together attendees every year.

The Ice Cream Club and Rich Draper were also recognized for their generosity and continued support of the event, providing free ice cream to attendees and helping create lasting memories for families and visitors.

Their commitment and contributions have played an important role in the success of one of Inverness' signature annual events. Thank you to all of this year's Cooter Kudos recipients for the positive impact they have made on our community! 👏

☀️ We had a sizzlin’ good time at the Summer Sizzlin' - Family Summer Bash ! 😎

What an amazing time kicking off summer with our youth and families at this year’s Summer Bash! From games and activities to community resources, giveaways, and plenty of summertime fun, it was the perfect way to start the season.

🔥 𝙄𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝘽𝙪𝙧𝙣 𝘽𝙖𝙣 𝙇𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 🔥

The City of Inverness Fire Department has rescinded the citywide burn ban previously issued on April 1st, 2026. The ban is rescinded, effective immediately on Wednesday, May 27th, 2026 for all residents within city limits.

While the burn ban order has been lifted, the Inverness Fire Department reminds all residents to remain vigilant and always take necessary precautions to prevent fires. Please continue to practice fire safety.
