During Annual Training at Camp Ripley, Minnesota, Soldiers from the 2-147 Assault Helicopter Battalion partnered with Airmen from the 133rd Airlift Wing to conduct a tail-to-tail medical evacuation training exercise.

The joint training integrated UH-60 Black Hawk MEDEVAC helicopters and a C-130 Hercules aircraft, allowing crews to practice the seamless transfer of simulated patients between rotary-wing and fixed-wing platforms. These realistic training scenarios strengthen interoperability, improve patient movement procedures, and ensure rapid, coordinated medical evacuation capabilities in support of domestic and overseas operations.

Exercises like this demonstrate the power of joint-force partnerships and help maintain the readiness of both Army and Air National Guard units to respond whenever and wherever they are needed.

April IDT consisted of an exceptionally busy, highly productive four-day training period held at Camp Ripley. During this time, the 2-147 Assault Helicopter Battalion and the 834 Aviation Support Battalion executed a series of critical training events designed to enhance both individual proficiency and collective readiness.

Key training efforts included aerial gunnery operations, which allowed aircrews to refine targeting accuracy, coordination, and weapons employment in a dynamic environment. In addition, Soldiers conducted M4 rifle qualifications to ensure individual weapons proficiency and reinforce marksmanship fundamentals. Crew-served weapons qualifications were also completed, strengthening unit lethality and ensuring teams remain proficient in operating and maintaining these critical weapon systems.

Throughout the training period, both battalions demonstrated a high level of discipline, coordination, and operational effectiveness. The successful ex*****on of these events contributed directly to increased combat readiness and validated the units’ ability to perform mission-essential tasks in a realistic training environment.
