Starfish is a leading provider of high-quality early childhood education, mental and behavioral health services, and whole-family parenting programs.

Our passion is early childhood development. We strive every day to prepare young children for a successful start to school. Our programs and services also uniquely recognize and respect the important role of parents and other caregivers in the long-term success of children. Starfish by the numbers
• Starfish has 16 centers in Wayne County (13 early childhood centers + 3 behavioral health clinics).

We also provide home-based services & telehealth options.
• Each year Starfish serves over 300,000 meals to our enrolled babies and preschoolers (breakfast, lunch, snack).

Backpacks are ready to go! 🎒 Our Behavioral Health Services (BHS) team recently came together to gather backpacks that will be distributed to Starfish clients as they head into the new school year.

It’s one more way our BHS team goes beyond the services they provide every day to support our clients, from infants and young children to youth and adults, and the families alongside them. 📚✏️

A big thank you to our BHS staff for making back-to-school season a little brighter for Starfish families!

Supporting a child’s development means supporting their health, too. 🩺🦷📏

Throughout the year, we help connect children and families with health and developmental screenings, dental and preventive care and community resources that can help identify needs early and support healthy growth.

These photos are a glimpse of that support in action at Starfish Covenant ECE Center’s first health screening event, where longtime Starfish supporter and Inkster physician Dr. Raju provided checkups for children.

We joined Live in the D to talk back-to-school! 🎒📺

Starfish’s Kecia Rorie, Director of Early Childhood Education Services, and Jajuanna Boike-Harper, Education Coach, shared simple ways families can help little ones feel ready and confident for the new school year.

From getting sleep schedules back on track to building social skills and independence, a little preparation can make the transition easier for children and their families.

🌱 Our Livonia Gro More Good Garden Club has been busy harvesting vegetables, tending the garden and building a hinged hoop house to help keep everything growing.

Led by Nutrition Specialists Courtney Bodle and Kristen Michaud, with support from our Strategy & Innovation team, the garden gives our teams and families hands-on opportunities to learn about nutrition, fresh foods and where they come from.

As our community gardens continue to grow at Starfish ECE Centers, so do the opportunities for children and families to build healthy habits from garden to table!

300 backpacks are headed to Starfish children and families! 🎒

Last month, our Community Engagement Manager Kyleen Black and Donor Relations Manager Erin Lin joined Austin Benefits Group for their annual Backpack Drive, where 1,500 backpacks were packed for organizations throughout Detroit.

Starfish received 300 backpacks to support young learners and families during the school year! Last year’s donation made such an impact that backpacks were even given to some of our most recent preschoolers heading off to kindergarten.

Thank you, Austin Benefits Group, for another year of generous support!
