One Community, One Story: Inglewood Family Unity Day!

This past weekend, IPL shared resources and goodies with the community at Councilwoman Gloria Gray's Family Unity Day. We provided books to build in-home libraries and fun crafts. Mayor Butts, Councilman Padilla, and Arts Commissioner Aletha Metcalf stopped by to say hello and browse the great books we had to offer! It was a great day of family unity and community connection.

August Reflections, September Frights: "Reading in the Wood" Adult Book Club!

Another successful book discussion at IPL! Our August pick, Assata: An Autobiography, was as inspirational and moving as the revolutionary leader herself. Readers shared how captivated they were by Assata's story, identity, and bravery. Our September book pick will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a translated work by proud Argentinian horror author Mariana Enriquez. Her novel, Our Share of Night, will be discussed on Saturday, 9/26 at 2 PM at the Morningside Park Branch.

Celebrating Community, Empowerment, and Civic Engagement!

IPL was a proud grant recipient of the USA 250 Semiquincentennial Funding Opportunity for California Public Libraries, made possible through the California Library Association. This funding helped make the We the People: Know Your Rights event possible, and we’re excited to share that it was a great success! We welcomed patrons for an informative and interactive program focused on educating and empowering our community about their civil rights. We were also honored to receive a special visit from Mayor James Butts and Assistant City Manager Chris Jackson, making the event even more memorable. We are grateful for the support that allowed us to provide this meaningful opportunity for community education, engagement, and collaboration!
