Chicago, IL - December 1, 2025:

This December, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is lighting the way for communities across America. At a time when many families are searching for hope, the Elks are answering the call with generosity, compassion, and unity on a scale few organizations can match. Across more than 1,800 Lodges in all 50 states, as well as Puerto Rico, the Philippines, and the Panama Canal Zone, Elks members are stepping forward to serve their neighbors and strengthen the places they proudly call home.

Elks volunteers are preparing and delivering thousands of holiday food baskets, warm meals, gifts, and essential items to families facing difficult times. Hospitalized and homebound Veterans will receive heartfelt visits, care packages, and reminders that they are valued and never forgotten. These moments of kindness honor the Elks’ solemn promise to those who served our country: “So long as there are Veterans, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will never forget them.”

The Elks’ commitment to America’s youth shines especially bright this season. Lodges nationwide are reviewing thousands of scholarship applications and investing 5 million dollars annually to help students pursue their dreams. Through the Community Investment Program, the Elks will deliver 17.6 million dollars in grants to strengthen neighborhoods, uplift seniors, support families in need, fight hunger, improve community safety, and build lasting connections that make towns and cities stronger.

In 2024, Elks volunteers contributed more than 531 million dollars in charitable impact. That extraordinary achievement reflects the Order’s 157-year legacy of service, patriotism, and compassion. With nearly 800,000 members, the Elks continue to welcome American citizens age 21 and older who believe in God and share their commitment to charity and community. South District DDGER Nancy Simendich with her team visit Indio 1643!

Yesterday Indio Elks lodge #1643 had the great honor of hosting a visit from our DDGER and her officers. I'm so proud of the accomplishments of our lodge, the energy and excitement.

Watching our many volunteers working so hard to make the visitation go off seamlessly was an emotional experience for me. Every day I wake up I feel like it is a great honor to serve our lodge and Elkdom alongside all of you. I am fraternally grateful for each and everyone.

Robbie Gould may have competed in the Elks Hoop Shoot when he was a kid, but he didn’t feel the weight of a National Finals trophy until he was the keynote speaker of the 2025 Elks Hoop Shoot National Finals.

Though Gould’s path to his 18-year NFL career wasn’t always easy, he picked himself up, went back to work, and achieved his dreams: He became the all-time leading scorer in Chicago Bears history, scored the 10th most points in NFL history, and earned All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors in 2006.

“Be humble, work hard, and whatever you want to achieve in life—go grab it,” said Gould. “Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do it. Your dreams are attainable.”
Whether the National Finalists achieved their dreams at Wintrust Arena, they can go on to make a difference in the lives of others.

“Everyone in this building—kids, parents, grandparents, volunteers—you have the ability to do something that nobody else does,” said Gould. “You can uniquely and significantly impact your community. Service is such a big part of what the Elks do. Get involved and do acts of kindness.”
