GFWC - Woman's Club of Indio Our mission is to enhance our community through active,
committed and civic minded participation. We support our local Indio Police K-9 since its inception.

We are the oldest civic group in the Coachella Valley, we support education through scholarships since the 1960's. We actively support the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission and the Coachella Valley History Museum.

With the Bianca Rae Foundation at the Palms Springs Convention Center asking attendees to take the White Ribbon pledge, “I (fill in name) will not commit, excuse or remain silent about sexual assault or domestic violence. We were welcomed by the Tahquitz Witch on the mountains and had a quick meeting afterward.

Our First President Estella Belinda Stevens Hall 1912-1913

Estella Belinda Stevens (people called her Stella) was born on January 18, 1858 ,in Berlin, Wisconsin. Her mother died when she was 6 years old. Estella was one of the first female dentists in the United States.

She married Andrew J. Jackson in Washington State in April 1884. She had two daughters Elsie Elizabeth Jackson and Ruth Stevens Jackson (Ruth only lived for one month). Estella was a dentist in Washington. She divorced Mr. Jackson, and she married John Franklin Hall on August 30, 1899, in Canada. Mr. Franklin died in 1903 in Canada.

After his death Estella moved to Indio, California where she became the first female date ranch owner. She is one of the two founding members of the Woman's Club of Indio. She lived in Indio through the 1930's. She relocated to Los Angeles where she lived until she died on March 30, 1961, at the age of 103

GFWC HOPE is out in the community today giving school supplies to needy college students and asking people to take the pledge that they will not commit domestic violence, sexual assault and not stay silent about it. We bought our table cover from the Amazon gift card that we won from Snug as a Bug and our canopy was our prize from the CFWC De Anza District’s Club Participation Project.
