If you have lived in Indianola, NE for very long, you most likely have a story about retired City Clerk Ona Malleck, who recently passed away. I thought it would be fitting to share mine.
Shortly after I became librarian, I received a call one day from Ona (retired by this point)- it went something like this...

Ona: Katie, Do you have a minute to talk?
Me: Yes (thinking to myself - "Oh no...what have I done? Did I upset Ona?" 😳)
Ona: I have a donation I'm interested in making to the library if you are interested.
Me: Okay?
Ona: You see, before I retired I told my family to buy me puzzles because I wanted to do puzzles in my retirement. But here's the thing, Katie, Retired Ona does not really like puzzles - so I would like to donate them to the library. 😅

So in case you didn't know - WE HAVE PUZZLES!!!
Many from Ona...and several others. There is no real check-out because sometimes it takes a long time to get a puzzle put together....I understand!
Come see what we have (a little of everything from 300 piece - 2000 piece) and grab one for the long weekend - or the cold days ahead and think of Ona & her family 🙂

I've had a few requests for this author (and yes, I drug my feet a little b/c of personal reasons...aka...I haven't loved her books). I seem to have ended up with 2 copies - so this one is headed to the LFL... and in about a week, you can check out a copy at the library! :)

Great News - The library now has a Little Free Library available to the public at the City Park (7th & E St) - you can get a book to read any time you want!
The Little Free Library is now open & stocked - the concept - Take a book, Share a Book.

This Little Free Library is fully funded by the Nebraska Library Commission and with financial support of the Little Free Library Organization.
Also a special thanks to our city council for supporting this project and the city maintenance guys for getting it installed.
