City of Indianola Fire Department

City of Indianola Fire Department I, Firefighter William Jones, on the behalf of Indianola Fire Department has formed this page for multiple reasons.

We are attempting to teach children and adults as well, about fire safety and to answer any questions that's fire orientated. Hopefully by forming this page, we will be able, through social media, to reach out to the city as well as public on multiple issues through a wider range of viewers.

On May 20, 2026, the Indianola Fire Department celebrated Assistant Chief William Alford’s retirement. Chief Alford’s retirement ceremony was held at the Firefighter’s training building, where he was congratulated and given gifts. Let’s give a standing ovation to Chief Alford for dedicating 30 years of his life to the Fire Department and the city of Indianola. Although you’ve completed this chapter of your life, we wish you well with whatever your next chapter holds.

*Attention* To all residents of Indianola, Ms, The Indianola Fire Department will be doing free home fire inspections as part of future fire prevention. Random homes will be selected for these inspections from now and in the upcoming months. Upon these inspections home owners will be educated about Smoke detectors, Fire Extinguishers, overloaded electrical outlets, escape plans etc…. Our goal is to become more acquainted with members of this community and help to prevent future fires and losses. This does not include businesses, only residential homes.. Again, these homes will be selected randomly so there’s no need to call the fire department for appointments. A relationship with the community is important to the Indianola Fire Department so we look forward to conversing with the public and assisting with making your homes safe. # IFD

The Indianola Fire Department want to share some Winter fire safety tips to all. 1. Have a professional to inspect Chimney’s , Fireplaces, Furnaces, Space Heaters , and Wood Stoves 2. Make sure Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors are working properly , and never leave Candles burning , or cooking food and Space Heaters unattended. 3. Keep all flammable items, such as Furniture , Curtains, and Bedding at least 3 Feet away from any heat source 4. Use proper outlets: plug electric heaters directly into an outlet, avoid using extension cords 5. Never use stovetops or ovens for heat , it can release dangerous Carbon monoxide gas 6. Inspect electrical cords for damage such as fraying or cracking and replace them and not try to repair them if they’re damaged. Follow these tips and you can decrease your chances of encountering a house fire.

*Attention* Home and Business owners and occupants if your buildings or homes doesn’t display the numerics of your address, please address this matter as soon as possible. Fire Departments, Police Departments or any other kind of emergency services, it ensures a quicker response time for that agency. Lack of numerics in your address could result in slower reaction time which could ultimately be the decider of a life or death situation. So be mindful and place those numbers on your business’s and homes.
