SCHEDULED OUTAGE June 24, 2026 at 1:00 A.M.

On Wednesday June 24th at 1:00 AM, the electric department will need to shut the power off to the same areas that were affected by the outage last month. It’s anticipated that the outage will last 2 to 3 hours. This is being done to switch feeders around to allow for the expected additional loading this summer due to the loss of our downtown switchgear. Our electric crews have been doing a lot of work ahead of time to try and minimize the outage time. This is also being done overnight for the safety of the lowest electric loads and minimize the disruption to our customers. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding.

3:03 UPDATE 5: All power should be restored to everyone affected. Thank you for your patience while our crews worked diligently through the night to get everything safely restored.

1:15 UPDATE 4: Power has been restored to more areas and we are down to the W Madison Place location. Crews are still working to restore power to this area. No ETA at this time.

9:30 UPDATE 3: IMU crews have worked diligently to restore power tonight. Power has been restored to many areas, but there are still some areas without power that they are working to restore. Unfortunately, there is no ETA at this time.

UPDATE 2: As repairs are made more damage is being discovered, IMU crews are working on underground cables, where damage can be more tricky to locate and when digging is needed locates from other utilities can take some time. Please be assured we are working as quickly as possible to get everyone’s power back on.

UPDATE: Some areas have restored power after crews were able to route power around the damage. Areas fed nearest to the fallen tree area will require additional repairs. Our crews are working as quickly and safely as possible, thank you for your patience.

IMU crews have responded to a power outage. A fallen tree has cause damage to power lines and equipment. We have no time estimates at this point.

These gentlemen are heading down to Corning, Iowa to help the town recover from recent storm damage.

IMU participates in Iowa Association of Municipal Utilities Mutual Aid program. Mutual Aid allows communities to ask for assistance to help recover from events like the recent storm damage.

IMU has both provided and received help like this in the past, and we're glad to help when we can.

Best wishes to Corning Municipal Utilities as they rebuild from the storm.
