9/11/2001. On that day 25 years ago 72 law enforcement officers died in the line of duty. NYPD lost 23 officers, the Port Authority Police Department lost 37. Members of the U.S. Secret Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and New York State Court officers also lost their lives that day.

We honor their sacrifice, courage, valor, and dedication. We honor them in how we live.

Please join us in congratulating Ofc. Luke Gilder on his graduation today from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. Ofc. Gilder completed 16 weeks of instruction to certify him as a police officer in the State of Iowa. After completion of field training, Ofc. Gilder will be assigned to the Patrol Division.

What started out as an "arrest" at the Warren County Fair turned into a fun day of rides and fair foods! Be warned, results may vary!

The Warren County Fair runs through Sunday at the Warren County Fairgrounds. Thank you to Sam's Amusement and the Warren County Fair Board for their assistance with our acting ambitions!

Last night at the Indianola City Council meeting, Mayor Steve Richardson presented Detective Brown with a Certificate of Merit. Det. Brown was presented this certificate in recognition of her efforts leading the Indianola Police Department's transition to Central Square, a new Records Management System (RMS) and Mobile CAD software platform. This transition was a county wide initiative and a heavy lift, resulting in all law enforcement partners in Warren County utilizing the same records and mobile platforms, increasing officer efficiency and access to critical information in the field.

With no operational experience in software implementation, Det. Brown tackled the Central Square project with determination and a willingness to step out of her comfort zone. She coordinated meetings with the vendor, law enforcement agencies, as well as spending countless hours ensuring the successful completion of data migration from our old RMS to our new one. In addition, Det. Brown coordinated department wide training to ensure all officers and staff were ready when the system hit "go live."

While serving as the project lead for this important software transition, Det. Brown also conducted her investigative duties. She continues to assist the transition by evaluating workflows and suggesting alternatives when necessary. This ability to multi-task is impressive and deserves recognition. Det. Brown is a great example of the professional staff we have here at IPD, and we are fortunate to have her as a member of our department. Happy Birthday to K9 Kilo!

Regular training is essential to keeping Kilo's skills sharp and ensuring he's always ready to serve our community. The strong partnership between Kilo and his handler, Officer Nixon, is built through countless hours of dedication, teamwork, and practice.

This week, we proudly celebrated the 20th Indianola Junior Police Academy, and what an incredible milestone it has been!

For the past 20 years, this academy has been about so much more than police cars and equipment—it's been about building relationships, inspiring young people, and strengthening the connection between law enforcement and our community.

Throughout the week, our students spent time alongside Indianola Police Department officers, getting a firsthand look at what we do every day. From solving mock crimes, fingerprinting, learning about patrol work, learning about online safety, and even participating in a foot chase, every day was filled with hands-on learning, teamwork, and plenty of smiles.

A big thank you to Officer Ross Marshall, and every member of our department who volunteered their time and energy to make this year's academy a success. Thank you also to our students and their families for being part of this special milestone. Your enthusiasm is what makes this program so rewarding year after year.

Congratulations to all of our Junior Police Academy graduates! Thank you for making our 20th Academy the best yet!
