United Way of Central Indiana is hosting their Ravenswood Neighborhood Volunteer Blitz this week with opportunities to support the neighborhood as they recover from the August floods.

Join them on Wednesday and Thursday this week for a 2-hour shift 10am-4pm.

There will be opportunities to volunteer with all skill levels with everything from sorting, collecting, and distributing donations, checking in and guiding volunteers, trash pick-up, assisting with debris removal, and more.

Dress comfortably, wear closed toed shoes, and bring work gloves if you have them!

📢 IMPORTANT: FEMA To Host Registration Center for Individual Assistance

Indianapolis – Marion County Emergency Management has been advised that the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Indiana Department of Homeland Security want to start the Individual Recovery registration process as soon as possible and they will be hosting the first Mobile Registration Intake Center (MRIC).

What is a FEMA MRIC?
A FEMA Mobile Registration Intake Center (MRIC) is a temporary, in-person location set up by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, State, and local emergency management teams to help disaster survivors apply for federal assistance.

What MRICs Do?
• Registration Only: These mobile units focus strictly on helping you fill out and submit your initial FEMA disaster assistance application and IDHS staff can insure you are registered for 211 as well.
• No Appointment Needed: You can walk up during posted operating hours without scheduling a time in advance.

Do I need to Bring Anything?
We have been advised residents do not need anything to register for assistance.

Do I have to register in person?
No

Earlier this month, LeAndre Level Jr. and Chris Davner from Indianapolis Department of Public Works presented on Tactical Urbanism with our Legacy Allies members.

Tactical urbanism involves short-term and low-cost community led solutions to improve street and public safety, such as painting murals on the street or barriers to encourage drivers to slow down.

They shared some real-life examples from leaders in local neighborhoods, data about current impact, and ways to implement these strategies in your own community.

We thank LeAndre, Chris, and the Indianapolis Department of Public Works for their time and sharing such important and useful information about their work!

The next round of applications for Tactical Urbanism and Art in the Right-of-Way is now open through Friday, Sept. 25, 2026. If selected there is a 50/50 cost share award.
