Service Runs in the Family

The two officers pictured here are cousins. The gentleman seated between them is their grandfather, who recently celebrated his 80th birthday.

Service to others is a tradition that runs deep in this family. Their grandfather served his country as a United States Army veteran, and today both of his grandsons continue that legacy of service with IMPD East District. One is a seasoned officer with years of experience, while the other is just beginning his law enforcement career.

The seed of service was planted a long time ago, and today it continues to grow through two officers serving the very community where they were raised and where their family still calls home.

One of the unique things about policing the community you grew up in is the connections that come with it. While the job keeps us busy, every once in a while thereโ€™s an opportunity to pause, share a meal, and celebrate an important milestone with family.

So please join us in wishing this young fella a very happy 80th birthday! ๐ŸŽ‰

And if youโ€™ve ever thought about a career in law enforcement, consider joining us. There is something special about serving the community where you live, work, and grew up.

Happy Birthday, sir, and thank you for your service to our country and your example of service to others.

Come Along for โ€œA Day in the Life of an IMPD East District CRU Officerโ€ ๐Ÿš“๐ŸŽฅ

Ever wonder what a Community Resource Unit Officer does throughout the day?

Our East District CRU Officers spend their time out in the community meeting neighbors face to face and building relationships across the Eastside. Whether itโ€™s visiting schools, stopping by community centers, attending neighborhood meetings, or hosting eventsโ€ฆ they make themselves available and accessible to the people they serve.

But the job doesnโ€™t stop there.

CRU Officers also patrol neighborhoods by car, bike, and foot, working to address concerns brought to their attention by community members and helping improve quality of life throughout the district.

Itโ€™s a well-rounded assignment focused on connection, visibility, problem-solving, and community engagement.

Take a look at the attached video and come along for โ€œA Day in the Life of an IMPD East District CRU Officer.โ€

Honor the Fallen. Never Forget.

Last week during National Police Week, thousands gathered across the country to honor the law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.

Here at IMPD East District, that remembrance continues every day.

Pictured here is an East District Day Shift officer speaking with community members in our lobby while showing them our memorial wall dedicated to the fallen officers of IPD/MCSO/IMPD.

Each name on that wall represents courage, sacrifice, and a commitment to serving others above self.

We will continue to remember them, honor them, and carry their legacy forward.

Honor the fallen.
