NCADV honors Patricia Waschbisch, who was killed by her dating partner on March 28th, 2013 in Peshtigo, Wisconsin. She was 45.
"Patricia J. Waschbisch was the Adult Legal Advocate and Interim Director of Rainbow House Domestic Abuse Services, Inc. Trish worked tirelessly for the last twelve years of her young life, serving hundreds of victims of domestic abuse. Trish lost her own life to domestic violence, all the while serving others. Her loss was a tragic blow to the domestic violence community of Wisconsin.
Though Trish was employed as an Adult Legal Advocate, she worked around the clock to keep our shelter running. There were many times in this high turnover field in which this small rural agency found itself without an Executive Director. Trish wanted, first and foremost, to serve survivors directly. She did not ask for or seek the leadership role in the organization, but she stepped up to fulfill the requirements when called upon to do so.
Trish was hopeful, tireless, passionate, and kind. I will remember her gentle smile, now passed to her daughter."
