A massive amount of marketing of misinformation based on pseudo-scientific methods has been drowning out actual educators’ voices for years. The situation for children in Indianapolis (and Indiana) has gotten exponentially worse in my witness. Losing public voice has led to re-segregation, and Gen Z is the first generation to decline in metacognition from the previous generation, ever, in public education history. Over-use of devices and overemphasis (and misuse) of standardized testing are clearly the cause. Research overwhelmingly validates this. What’s broken in the system is what software developers and testing companies and business-minded “efficiencies” have wrought.
