Behind every reliable power supply is a lot of thoughtful planning and a little strategy. ⚡♟️

At Wabash Valley Power, power supply diversity means using a balanced mix of generation sources (including traditional power plants, renewables, and wholesale market purchases) to keep electricity affordable, reliable, and adaptable for our member cooperatives.

Why does it matter? Because diversity helps manage risk, stabilize rates, and ensure we’re ready for whatever the future brings (no crystal ball required). That’s the cooperative model at work: long term thinking, shared resources, and members first.

Ninety years after the Rural Electrification Act was signed into law, electric cooperatives are still delivering on its promise to power and empower rural America.

To this day, the longstanding partnership between electric co-ops and U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Utilities Service continues to be essential as co-ops work to power rural communities, expand broadband access and build a better tomorrow.

On May 20, we celebrate 90 years of cooperative commitment to serving rural America.

When a school builds for the future, the whole community benefits. 🏫✨

South Central Schools’ new Student Activity Center was quickly doing big things, from athletic practices to blood drives, health clinics, and student group meetings. With support from Kankakee Valley REMC and Wabash Valley Power Alliance, the project also included energy efficient upgrades supported by Power Moves® rebates totaling $17,841, helping lower long term energy costs for the school.

This is community impact, cooperative style: investing in spaces that bring people together, support students from K–12, and keep operating costs in check so resources can go where they matter most.

Some of the biggest community wins don’t happen on a stage. They happen on job sites, in small businesses, and through neighbors helping neighbors. ❤️

McGrew’s Well Drilling, owned by the same family for nearly 120 years, built a new garage on Fulton County REMC lines and received a $2,770 Power Moves® business rebate for installing energy-efficient lighting.

This is why cooperatives exist: to support the people and businesses in the communities we serve, helping them grow, plan for the future, and invest locally.

When we work together, local communities win. In this case study, we partnered with to help Guilford Township with on a project upgrading security lighting at Hummel Park.

The project improved safety, reduced maintenance needs, and lowered energy use, leading to long-term savings. It’s a great example of how we collaborate with our member co-ops to help local organizations make smart, long lasting improvements.

A picturesque community park routinely hosted an unusual kind of parkgoer: repairmen in a bucket truck to fix or replace burned out security lights. Fortunately, the local township received support from its local power provider for a more permanent solution – and even got paid to do so.
