On this day in 1952, Dwight D. Eisenhower brought his presidential campaign to Indianapolis.

During his visit, Eisenhower’s motorcade traveled down Indiana Avenue, stopping at the Indianapolis Recorder to meet editor Marcus C. Stewart Sr. as crowds gathered in the street.

Two months later, Eisenhower defeated Adlai Stevenson to become the 34th president of the United States.

What a night celebrating four remarkable Hoosiers!

On Friday, we gathered for the annual Indiana Living Legends Gala, honoring Dr. Craig Brater, Don Fischer, John M. Mutz, and Renee Chube Washington.

A special thank you to our generous sponsors, Lake City Bank and Ice Miller LLP, whose support makes this celebration — and our statewide mission to preserve Indiana's stories — possible.

And thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating this year’s Living Legends and the lasting impact their work has made on Indiana.
