In response to a rapidly evolving global security landscape and compressing decision-making timelines, the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Financial Management and Comptroller is launching a comprehensive transformation effort to overhaul the Army's financial operations.

The plan is designed to ensure that every dollar serves as a direct investment in readiness and lethality, focusing on leveraging people, processes, and technology to turn financial management into a critical combat enabler.

Day 3 of the U.S. Army Finance Corps' Finance Soldier of the Year competition was so action packed that it took two days to edit all the pics!

Starting off just before 4 a.m., the competitors embarked on a 12-mile ruck march that finished with a surprise skills test on the M4 carbine, M240 machine gun and M320 gr***de launcher.

The competitors then hit the range, putting their marksman skills to the test. After taking their best shot, the group then showcased their warrior task and battle drill skills.

Twelve finance and comptroller Soldiers, noncommissioned officers and officers continue their four-day competition at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

Winners will be announced at the Finance Corps Regimental Ball on Friday, so stay tuned!

Day 2 of the U.S. Army Finance Corps' Finance Soldier of the Year competition kicked off with an expert physical fitness assessment. It was then followed by a two-hour essay assignment and wrapped up with tactical combat casualty care at the Medical Simulation Training Facility on Fort Jackson.

Twelve finance and comptroller Soldiers, noncommissioned officers and officers continue their four-day competition at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

Winners will be announced at the Finance Corps Regimental Ball on Friday, so stay tuned!

Day 1 of the U.S. Army Finance Corps' Finance Soldier of the Year competition is complete!

Today, 12 finance and comptroller Soldiers, noncommissioned officers and officers took part in a finance and comptroller competency test, land navigation course and obstacle course to kick off the four-day competition at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

Winners will be announced at the Finance Corps Regimental Ball on Friday, so stay tuned!

Money is money; it all spends the same way. However, that doesn’t mean it’s all processed or received the same way, especially when it comes to Soldier pay.

To build financial readiness across all three Army components, ten U.S. Army Financial Management Command Army Military Pay Office employees took part in the U.S. Army Reserve Pay Certification Course in Indianapolis March 16-20.

Wanting to ensure the AMPOs can support all Soldiers, Ronald Houston, USAFMCOM Military Pay Operations Readiness Division chief, said the command is investing in its employees by sending them to this training so they can support Soldiers regardless of their component.

“A Soldier is a Soldier, and we will provide them the same level of support, regardless of their status,” said Houston.

On National Medal of Honor Day, we honor all recipients of our nation's highest award for valor.

We are proud of our connection to this legacy through two who also served as Army Paymasters: Maj. Gen. George W. Baird and Brig. Gen. Francis S. Dodge.

Both were awarded the Medal of Honor for bravery before leading the U.S. Army's Paymaster Department, and their legacy of courage and integrity continues to inspire our mission today.

"Ultimately, what we're talking about is readiness, lethality and the warfighter..."

In case you missed it, Marc Andersen, Assistant Secretary of the Army for Financial Management and Comptroller, took part in the Finance and Comptroller Profession Series with Kimberly Scott, Office of the ASA (FM&C) Workforce Development director, yesterday.

During the discussion, Andersen focused on the critical role of financial management in supporting Army continuous transformation while highlighting the need for the financial management community to adapt with the same speed and agility as the operational forces they support.

Scott discussed the changes to the Department of War Financial Management Certification program, including the impact of the reduced number of continuing education and training (CET) credits required.

The FC Profession Series is a monthly webcast hosted by the OASA (FM&C) and the U.S. Army Financial Management Command, and it is an integral part of the U.S. Army’s Finance and Comptroller communication efforts with FC Soldiers and civilian personnel across all three Army components.

William French, U.S. Army Financial Management Command Military Pay Operations financial management analyst, was named the USAFMCOM MPO Employee of the Quarter for the first quarter March 5.

“William is exceptional because he’s reliable and relentless,” said Gennaro Penn, MPO director. “If you ask him a question, he’s going to get you an answer, no matter what, which is why he is our ‘go-to guy.’”

While he may be the ‘go-to,’ French maintains that he’s just a normal guy doing his part to provide the best possible support to warfighters around the globe.

“I’m humbled and honored,” he said when asked about the award. “I do what I do to serve the Soldiers that volunteer to serve our country.”

Every munition has a dollar figure, every training exercise has a price, and every Soldier has bills, which is why the Army’s top sustainer invested time with the U.S. Army Financial Management Command recently.

Lt. Gen. Christopher O. Mohan, U.S. Army Materiel Command commanding general, visited with USAFMCOM’s command team, Soldiers and civilian employees during an AMC major subordinate command update at Fort Knox, Kentucky, March 4.

“We were able to show how our AMPOs are building military pay readiness with our Soldiers, how our Army Financial Services directorate and the 45th Finance Center are ensuring our battlefield commanders and operators have the cash they need to sustain and win any fight anywhere in the world, and how our Army Accounting and Audit Operations team is building a fiscally transparent environment that maximizes money and lethality,” said Col. Michelle M. Williams, USAFMCOM commander.
