From a tiny seed, something extraordinary can grow.

Today, we celebrate the Feast of Blessed Frédéric Ozanam, who understood that small acts of faith and love can grow into something far greater. In 1833, Frédéric and a small group of friends began personally serving their neighbors. Like the mustard seed in the Gospel, that small beginning took root and grew—becoming the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and inspiring Vincentians around the world.

Today at SVdP Indy, that seed continues to grow with every home visit, every volunteer, every gift and every neighbor served with dignity and love.

Small acts. Deep roots. Lasting impact.

At our Distribution Center, our Linens Department helps turn generous donations into a good night’s rest for our neighbors. Volunteers sort and process everything from tablecloths and curtains to blankets and bedding—creating complete bedding sets for those who need them.

Their attention to detail and commitment to keeping everything neat and organized makes this department stand out. We’re grateful for the care they put into every donation!

Our friends Mission 27 Resale have mentioned needing some additional children's clothing, especially as we look to the colder months. If you're clearing closets over the long holiday weekend, please consider sharing the clothes your "littles" have outgrown so that another child can benefit from their warmth and wear—passed through our services desk at no cost, or through our resale shops whose proceeds support nutritious food options in our food pantries throughout Indianapolis and southern Indiana.

Donations can be dropped off at the dock of our Distribution Center, or dropped off in one of the blue bins located at nearly every parish in the Archdiocese. To find one near you, visit https://www.svdpindy.org/give/blue-bin-locator/

When we serve together, we grow together.
We are incredibly grateful for the companies, universities and organizations that choose to spend their time volunteering with SVdP Indy. Their helping hands are essential to our mission—and the experience of serving together can have an impact that extends well beyond the time they spend with us.

Recently, our friends at Marian University Indianapolis captured that spirit of service during their Community Day at SVdP Indy. In the video, our Director of Volunteer Services, Heather Snyder, shares a glimpse of what happens when people come together around a common purpose.

For us, their service means more neighbors can receive the food, clothing and basic necessities they need. For the teams who serve alongside us, it can mean something more, too.

Volunteering gives colleagues an opportunity to step outside their everyday roles, work shoulder-to-shoulder, experience our community from a different perspective and discover something new about one another. Those shared experiences can strengthen relationships, build trust and create connections that teams carry back to the workplace.

To Marian University—and to every company, school, organization and individual who shares their time and talents with SVdP Indy—thank you. We simply could not do this work without you.

A little time. A significant impact—for our neighbors and, perhaps, for your team, too.

Students from Butler University brought plenty of helping hands to our 30th Street Food Pantry and Distribution Center! One group rolled up their sleeves to process produce, while another organized children’s coats to help us prepare for the winter season. We’re so grateful to see young adults stepping up, giving back, and helping neighbors in our community. Thank you, Butler students, for making a difference!

Every week, more than 4,000 families walk through our food pantry doors—and nearly 40 dedicated volunteers make sure each one leaves with quality protein by hand-processing over 12,000 pounds of meat into family-sized portions. Discover how this behind-the-scenes labor of love comes together and consider joining us on Fridays from 9 a.m.–12 p.m. to be part of the work.

More than 4,000 families walk through the doors of our food pantries each week. To make sure every one of them leaves with nutritious, high-quality protein, we process and distribute over 12,000 pounds of meat every single week. That doesn’t happen by accident. It requires a carefully run operatio...

This summer, they’ve been volunteering at our 30th Street Food Pantry, giving their time to make a difference in our community. We love providing safe, meaningful, and unique opportunities for youth to get involved and give back. We’re so grateful to have the Royals on our team!
