Decatur Township School Police Department Decatur Townships police officers are carefully selected, specifically trained and properly equipped. Officers are responsible for patrol of Decatur campuses.

We provide classroom presentations, counsel students, mentor and serve as positive role models.

This week, Chief Smith had the opportunity to join INSROA President, Sam Hipskind for the signing of House Bill 1343 by Governor Mike Braun. The bill includes important legislation addressing imitation and “look-a-like” fi****ms, strengthening school and community safety efforts across Indiana.

A special thank you to the Indiana School Resource Officers Association lobbyists whose advocacy and persistence helped ensure this critical language was included in the final legislation.

This week Sergeant JeJuan Westmoreland is attending a nationally recognized CPTED (Crime Prevention by Environmental Design) course. We look forward to what this opportunity could provide for the safety of our buildings in Decatur Township!

Today is National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day! We are thankful for the Decatur Township School Police Department and their work in our schools. Their critical roles as Law Enforcement Officer, Public Safety Educator, and Informal Counselor/ Mentor contribute to safe learning environments daily!
