I am proud to share that I have been accepted into the 2027 Morgan County Leadership Academy!

Throughout my years of public service, I have always believed that leadership is about more than holding a title. It is about listening, learning, building relationships, and making a positive difference in the community we serve.

This opportunity will allow me to continue developing as a leader, gain new perspectives, and work alongside others who share a commitment to making Morgan County an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.

As I prepare to take on the responsibility of serving as Madison Township Trustee, I believe it is important to never stop learning, growing, or finding new ways to better serve our residents.

I’m incredibly honored and grateful to have the endorsement of the Morgan County Professional Firefighters Union Local 4555.

This endorsement means a great deal to me. These men and women understand firsthand what strong leadership, responsible decision-making, and a commitment to public safety mean for our community.

This is why you should never assume anything, get involved in your community and in local government.

Trudy Ellis ran for county office and lost. Her husband, Larry Ellis, also lost his bid for reelection as Madison Township Trustee. Yet there are still three months left in the current administration, and the decisions being made during those three months still matter and are heavily influenced by both of the Ellis’s.

Our community got involved. People paid attention, asked questions, showed up, and voted. That’s what local government is supposed to look like.

And as we head into the general election, remember: your vote belongs to you and you alone.

Bipartisanship and cooperation matter when the goal is a better county and a stronger community. Look beyond the letter beside someone’s name. Look at the people, their records, their ideas, and what they believe is best for the community.

I’m a Republican, and I’m proud of that. But I’m also a father, husband, son, and member of this community. At the end of the day, I want what’s BEST for our community, regardless of the symbol next to someone’s name.

🚨 URGENT: OUR FIREFIGHTERS’ LIVING CONDITIONS ARE IN SHAMBLES AGAIN 🚨

Firefighters are expected to enter environments most people are running away from. They work structure fires, vehicle fires, medical emergencies, crashes, and other incidents while wearing heavy protective clothing and equipment that significantly increases the body’s heat load.

When that call is over, recovery matters.

OSHA specifically warns that protective equipment can increase the risk of heat-related illness and says workers exposed to heat need adequate water, rest, and access to a cool recovery area. OSHA states:

“Workers should be given a cool location where they can take their breaks and recover from the heat.”

OSHA also identifies air-conditioned enclosures and rooms as recovery areas that can be used to reduce heat stress.

Now look at what our firefighters are returning to.

The photographs show readings ranging from the 80s into the 90s inside areas of the station, while portable air conditioners, fans, cardboard-covered windows, and other temporary measures are being used just to try to make the building tolerable.

That isn’t meaningful recovery from heat exposure.

A firefighter can spend an extended period working in turnout gear, breathing compressed air, climbing stairs, pulling hose, performing rescues and operating in extreme temperatures. Sending that firefighter back into an excessively hot station means their body may have a harder time shedding the heat accumulated during the incident.

OSHA recognizes heat exhaustion as potentially involving heavy sweating, headache, nausea, dizziness, weakness, thirst and rapid heartbeat. Heat stroke can progress to confusion, seizures, loss of consciousness and dangerously elevated body temperature—and is a medical emergency.

And OSHA’s guidance is clear that the hotter the conditions become, the more important recovery becomes: breaks should be long enough for workers to recover, and recovery happens more quickly in a cooler location.

But this goes beyond our firefighters.

Madison Township was once a place our community could turn to as an emergency cooling station during dangerous heat. Today, our own firefighters need somewhere to cool down themselves.

If our station cannot provide a safe, cool environment for the men and women responding to emergencies, how can we possibly expect it to provide heat relief to the citizens who may need us?

This isn’t about comfort.

It’s about firefighter safety.
It’s about readiness.
It’s about protecting the people who protect us.
And it’s about making sure Madison Township can take care of its community when the community needs us most.

We can, and must, DO BETTER.

Safe Firefighters. Safe Citizens. A Stronger Madison Township.

Today, I received the news that no one else filed to run for Madison Township Trustee in the General Election.

That means that come January, I will have the honor and responsibility of assuming the office of Madison Township Trustee.

This journey would not have been possible without the incredible support of my family, friends, volunteers, first responders, community members, and everyone who believed in the vision of a stronger Madison Township. Thank you to every person who knocked on doors, shared a post, put up a sign, cast a vote, offered advice, or simply encouraged me along the way.

Now, the real work begins.

Through teamwork, dedication, accountability, and a commitment to a clear plan, we are going to work together to make Madison Township stronger, safer, and better prepared for the future.

This office belongs to the people of Madison Township, and I look forward to working with our residents, employees, firefighters, community partners, and Township Board to move our community forward.

We ran on a commitment to leadership, readiness, and stability. Come January, it will be time to turn those commitments into action.

Thank you to everyone who made this possible. I am humbled by your trust, grateful for your support, and ready to get to work.

Together, we will build a bigger, better, and stronger Madison Township. The best is yet to come.

The car show was a fantastic event and Debbie Hartsock did a fantastic job organizing it. I’m grateful and blessed to have walked with three category wins. Not bad for my first show.

Come out, say hi, and have a great time! The men and women of the department, along with Ms. Hartsock, have done a fantastic job putting this event together. We hope to see you there! 🇺🇸🚒🎆

Tomorrow is the Madison Township Fire Department Freedom Festival, and I genuinely hope to see EVERYONE there enjoying the day and celebrating our nation’s 250th anniversary.

That said, I also believe the public deserves to know the facts.

• The vendor application published on the Madison Township Fire Department website included “Political Organization” as an approved vendor category.
• Vendors applications were reviewed and approved on June 15.
• On June 25, after the Trustee became involved, that approval was revoked and vendors were told only “commercial style vendors/retail” would be allowed.
• After the denial, the vendor application was removed from the website.
