Educators do more than teach—they inspire, empower, and help shape the future of our community. The Education Heritage Award recognizes a committed Latina/o/e educator or educational leader who has demonstrated excellence, passion, and a lasting commitment to education in Indianapolis.

Nominees may serve in PreK–12, higher education, community or faith-based education, youth development, or mentoring programs and must have served the Indianapolis community through education for more than three years.

✨ Help us recognize an educator whose leadership has made a meaningful difference in the lives of students, families, and our broader community.

All impacted residents are invited to Riverwood Park this Saturday from 11am-2pm for the City's Flood Resource Connection Day.

Come enjoy a hot meal, meet directly with city & county agencies and community partners, and let us know how your city can continue to support you during cleanup and recovery.

📢 IMPORTANT: FEMA To Host Registration Center for Individual Assistance

Indianapolis – Marion County Emergency Management has been advised that the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Indiana Department of Homeland Security want to start the Individual Recovery registration process as soon as possible and they will be hosting the first Mobile Registration Intake Center (MRIC).

📅 Friday 8/28 and Saturday 8/29
8am until 6pm

📍 Broad Ripple Park Family Center
1426 Broad Ripple Ave, Indianapolis IN 46220.

What is a FEMA MRIC?
A FEMA Mobile Registration Intake Center (MRIC) is a temporary, in-person location set up by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, State, and local emergency management teams to help disaster survivors apply for federal assistance.

What MRICs Do?
• Registration Only: These mobile units focus strictly on helping you fill out and submit your initial FEMA disaster assistance application and IDHS staff can insure you are registered for 211 as well.
• No Appointment Needed: You can walk up during posted operating hours without scheduling a time in advance.

Do I need to Bring Anything?
We have been advised residents do not need anything to register for assistance.

Do I have to register in person?
No

🌎 Indianapolis Youth Leaders in Cologne!

Last week, three outstanding Indianapolis youth delegates traveled to our Sister City, Cologne, Germany, to participate in the Colonia Project—bringing young leaders from around the world together to discuss key issues affecting urban communities and the future of our cities.

These three young leaders: Sydney Rhodehamel, Keaun Michael Brown, & Yvette Vargas proudly represented the City of Indianapolis and our Sister City partnership, showcasing the civic engagement and leadership of Indianapolis youth on an international stage.

A special thank you to Cologne Sister City President Melissa Hopson for serving as the Youth Leader Liaison throughout their travels, and to the City of Cologne for warmly hosting our Indianapolis delegates.

Congratulations to our youth delegates on a successful experience—and welcome home! 👏🌍
