A huge thank you to Donovan, Director of Student Leadership, for organizing Into the Streets, an amazing event that brings college students together to volunteer and make a difference throughout our community! 💙

We were so grateful to welcome these students to the center, and they accomplished an incredible amount in such a short time!

Here’s just some of what our volunteers were able to get done:

🥫 Put away our delivery
🗂️ Organized the food pantry
🍈 Cut up melons
🍎 Went through apples and potatoes
🥣 Organized snacks and put them into bins
🥕 Went through and organized the Farmer’s Market
🐶 Bagged enough dog food to last us for days
🍗 Portioned chicken nuggets
🗄️ Went through cleaned and organized cabinets
♻️ Loaded the van with recycling

It is amazing to see what can happen when students come together and give their time to support their community. Their hard work helps us stay organized, prepare food and resources, and better serve the families and individuals who rely on the center.

Thank you, Donovan, for creating this opportunity through Into the Streets, and thank you to all of the students who showed up ready to work and make a difference! We truly appreciate every one of you! ❤️

We’re excited to be part of Senior Day in the Park on September 16th from 10am–2pm at Mack Park.

Our Board President, Deb, and Resource Coordinator, Marissa, will be at our table to answer questions, share information about the center, and visit with the community. Be sure to stop by and say hello!

We want to take a moment to thank everyone who came out to lend a hand yesterday evening. It was truly a joy to have each and every one of you with us!

A thank you to the guys from Kiewit Corporation for jumping right in and helping us sort through apples and potatoes, cut cantaloupe, zucchini, peppers, clean green beans and tackle whatever else needed to be done. We appreciate your willingness to pitch in wherever you were needed!

A thank you to Wendy and Josh from Kiewit for taking our recycling. ♻️

Thank you to the Angela, her mom, and friend who helped prepare our green peppers by cutting off the tops and coring them so we can make stuffed peppers. 🫑 200 total!

And, of course, thank you to Thomas for coming back again and spending time cutting and preparing produce. We are so grateful for your continued willingness to help!

We are so grateful to Fresh Blendz Cafe
for their generous donation of bread! Your kindness helped us provide some delicious and comforting meals this week.

We used the bread alongside spaghetti for one of our Meals 2 You meals, and then put it to good use again with grilled cheese paired with a beef vegetable soup.

Donations like this make a real difference and help us stretch our resources while serving warm, filling meals to those in our community.

Adriene and Marissa had a blast heading to campus for some tabling events!

It was nice to get away from the center for a little while and have the opportunity to share with students everything we have to offer. We loved talking with the students, answering questions, and letting them know that our resources are available to them, too! 💚

We also had so much fun connecting with students and recruiting more volunteers. It was exciting to hear so many people say they want to get involved and help out in the community.

We’re so grateful to everyone who stopped by, chatted with us, and showed interest in getting involved. We can’t wait to welcome more volunteers and continue building connections in our community! 💚
