Our venerated Fiction Book Club will meet on Thursday, June 18th at 5:30 to discuss The Dig by John Preston. In this book we have mystery and history! It’s also a Netflix movie! In 1939, Britain is preparing for war, but on a farm in Suffolk, Mrs. Pretty, the widowed owner of a farm, has her hunch confirmed - mounds on her land hold buried treasure! Preston's genius is to make you forget it is a true story... he shows why fiction can be as effective as non-fiction in telling a story— because he puts you there, seeing through the eyes of people who are involved... It makes archaeology lyrical, poetic, and personal. This story which is based on real events was selected because it fit in with the Summer Reading Program's theme of "Unearth a Story." We suggest you dig in and enjoy The Dig! We have copies of this book available at the library.

It's a great day to listen to a podcast! The next meeting is on Thursday, May 28th. Listen to the 8 episodes of The Red Weather By IHeart Podcasts and let's discuss it at the club meeting! The fictional investigative 8 episode podcast interrogates true-crime conventions, unreliable narration and the ethics of storytelling — all driven by a 1995 cold case. Rider Strong, playing himself, will delve into the disappearance of his best friend's sister, Anna Trainor, from a commune in 1995.
