The Pleasantview Fire Department invites you to a solemn and historic community event. Join us as we officially dedicate a park in honor of two of our own who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

The "Park Commemoration" is a tribute to Firefighter Jerome Srejma and Firefighter Gary Michalek, honoring the courage and sacrifice they showed on October 26, 1981. This new space at Srejma-Michalek Memorial Park will stand as a lasting memorial to their service and bravery.
We welcome all community members, families, and honored guests to join us in this act of remembrance.

🗓️ WHEN: Saturday, October 24, 2026
⏰ TIME: 10:30 A.M.
📍 LOCATION: Srejma-Michalek Memorial Park
Southeast Corner of Forest View Road and Lorraine Drive
Countryside, IL 60525

Today, Red Shift evaluated hose options for our upcoming High-Rise Packs.
When it comes to high-rise operations, every second and every pound of pressure counts. We’re testing for optimal water flow, reduced friction loss, maneuverability in tight stairwells, and overall durability under tough conditions.
By rigorous field-testing our equipment before it goes into service, we ensure our firefighters have the most efficient, reliable tools possible when responding to emergencies in mid and high structure buildings.

🚤 OUT ON THE WATER & STAYING READY! 🌊
Our crews have been out on the water conducting hands-on boat operations and water rescue training. Regular training ensures our firefighters and paramedics are prepared to respond quickly and safely to any water-related emergencies in our community and neighboring communities.

Whether you’re boating, fishing, or enjoying time near the water, keep these essential water safety tips in mind:
🦺 Always Wear a Life Jacket: Make sure life jackets are properly fitted for every passenger, especially children.
🏊 Know Your Swimming Limits: Never swim alone, and avoid swimming in unfamiliar open water or strong currents.
📱 Stay Connected & Prepared: Keep a fully charged phone in a waterproof bag and tell someone on shore your plan before heading out.
🚫 Never Mix Alcohol & Boating: Operating a boat under the influence impairs judgment, balance, and reaction time just like driving a car.
⚡ Check the Weather: Weather conditions can change rapidly. Always check local forecasts before departing
