🌿 A huge thank you to the volunteers from 7 Hills Church and their Heart the City Program!

Last week, teams of volunteers rolled up their sleeves and spent the week helping beautify all of our Kenton County parks. From spreading mulch and refreshing landscaping to picking up litter and clearing debris, their hard work made a noticeable difference across our parks.

Thank you for giving your time and energy to help get our parks ready for the summer!

We packed a lot of adventure into this week!

🎨 On Tuesday, kids got creative with Art Equals at Pioneer Park, learning different knot tying techniques and turning them into some impressive projects.

🐐 Wednesday brought the fun at Wild Wednesday with Benton Farms " Benton Family Farm"! Families got to meet and pet goats, a bunny, a duck and more. Kids even snapped photos with a special guest, Y'all Star, the Florence Y'alls mascot.

🌿 We wrapped up the week at Science Thursday, where the Kenton County Conservation District, Kentucky introduced everyone to the joys of nature journaling and encouraged kids to slow down, observe and appreciate the world around them.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this week! We can't wait to do it all again.

πŸ‘€ Check back Monday to see what's in store for next week's lineup!

Who doesn't love spotting a bluebird? There's something special about seeing that bright flash of blue on a walk through the park!

Eastern bluebirds are cavity nesters, meaning they build their nests inside tree cavities or nest boxes. They nest from March through August, and the addition of man-made nesting boxes has played a huge role in helping their populations make an incredible comeback. Males are easy to recognize with their brilliant blue feathers and rusty-red chest, while females have softer gray coloring with blue on their wings and tail.

You can find bluebird nesting boxes along our Bluebird Trail at Lincoln Ridge, Middleton-Mills, Pioneer and Doe Run Lake parks. The next time you're out enjoying your favorite County park, keep an eye out from a respectful distance and you just might catch a bluebird flying in or out of its nest box!

The answer to yesterday's was... 48 pounds!

The average rainbow trout weight is 2 to 6 pounds, making the record holder a major outlier.

Want to try to catch one for yourself? We stock rainbow trout in our Middleton-Mill Park ponds as part of our Fishing in Neighborhoods (FINS) program. Be sure to have a valid Kentucky Fishing License.
