Van Horn High School Class of 1987

Van Horn High School Class of 1987 Van Horn High School is one of four high schools in the Independence School District. It was previously owned and operated by the KC School District.

Van Horn High School opened its doors in the fall of 1955. Until 2008 the school was a part of the Kansas City, Missouri School District. In November of 2007 voters in both the Kansas City and Independence School Districts agreed to transfer Van Horn along with its five feeder schools into the Independence District.

Classmates, after conferring with Chris Byers and Jana Thompson, I have the following announcement to make. Before I do, I want to say we all 3 are OK before anyone reaches out. This has been a personal trying year for all 3 of us and continues in some aspect to do so. Life has gotten in the way. As far as reunions, normally we get together, rent the shelter, and put it all together. This year marks the 35th anniversary for our class. We will NOT be setting anything up. If ANYONE else wants to go through the trouble of doing so feel free. No hurt feelings on our end. I will try and show up if I can and so will Chris and Jana. We always tried to get the biggest shelter that held the most people that was easy to get to. But again, do whatever anyone wants to. Our class of 87 has always had the best show ups and show outs of any class reunion I've seen on here. I'm sorry we have to take a pass this time. We have to take care of ourselves and family first. Again if anyone wants to put it together and drop on the page, go right ahead. Thanks for understanding.
