The Good & Welfare committee help provide support and donations to the members of IAFF Local 781 as well as those within the community.

Last week members of the Good & Welfare were given the chance to meet the future of the EMS/Fire services. They presented a scholarship to a graduating senior from Fort Osage High School who plans to continue her education and pursue a career as a firefighter. Everyone on Good & Welfare is proud to be able to present these awards and scholarships to continue to grow and strengthen the EMS/Fire service

It’s that time of year! Our 15th Annual Good & Welfare Charity Golf Tournament is here and open! This is our main source of fundraising for giving back to our community. Funds raised will go towards our “Stop, Drop and Shop with a Firefighter” event as well as scholarships for high school seniors who are looking to go into Fire or EMS careers. Please join us for a day of fun and memories as we continue giving back to the community.

This week President Veit, Vice President Peacock and the Good & Welfare trustees delivered donations to 3 organizations.

The UMatter Movement, a fully volunteer nonprofit dedicated to providing support to those who are facing challenging times of addiction, mental health challenges, and food insecurity.

The Mill Creek Elementary Benevolence Fund which goes towards helping students and their families such as paying for outstanding school lunch debt, buying clothes, paying for hotels for families and paying for light and heat bills.

Mothers Refuge, an organization that supports young mothers and children when they have no where else to turn to.

We at IAFF Local 781 Good & Welfare and Professional Firefighters Of Independence are grateful to have the opportunity to give back to the community we serve and protect

Thanks to the incredible support of our volunteers and on-duty crew, families throughout Independence will enjoy a full and joyful Christmas this year. Over the weekend, our Shop With A Firefighter event was a huge success, collecting dozens of toys that will be donated to children in need across our community.

We are truly grateful to everyone who gave their time and support to make this event possible. A special thank you to LaMar’s Donuts, Starbucks, Minsky’s pizza, Walmart Independence – S Bolger Rd and Rhonda and her staff at Dollar General - 24 Hwy for catering to and donating to the event and all of the generosity from the various donors throughout the year that have made this event possible

Together, we’re making a meaningful difference this holiday season.

The Fill the Firetruck Toy Drive is live today! Come see us at Walmart Independence - S Bolger Rd to donate toys for children for Christmas! You’ll also see us walking around today shopping with preselected Independence children as they pick out their own presents!

Always an amazing time at the Independence Halloween parade. Our members and their families loved seeing everyone’s costumes, but our favorite ones were definitely the future firefighters!

Earlier this week Fav trip Independence made a donation for $400. This money will be used during our Shop with a Firefighter event, where three additional children from Independence will get to go shopping with a firefighter for Christmas presents. Thank you so much Fav Trip, we appreciate your generosity!

Tonight, IAFF Local 781 Good & Welfare was able to present a $2,500 scholarship to Isabela Hunt who attends Fort Osage High school, and plans to pursure a future career in the fire service.
