The park is out of power. Energy is working to get it restored. Once we have an update we will let everyone know a timeline for when it should be back on.

We have Seasonal Gatehouse positions available for this summer. Evenings and weekends shifts. Come by the office Monday- Friday 8-4 for an application.

The Friends of Elk City State Park will be having their first meeting this year at Big Cheese tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. Come on out and support them! Details in their post.

It’s that time of year again! We want you to join our team!! We need some new officers, new ideas, and activities. Any questions contact Christina at 620-926-2040.

Our first friends group meeting is Wednesday, February 5 at 5:30 at Big Cheese in the big meeting room in Independence to visit and eat the meeting will start at 6.

If you have ever wanted the inside scoop of what’s going on in the park/dates of activities before publicized or to help make some changes or improvements please come join us we need you! Membership dues are $10 per person or $15 a couple. Come help us make a difference in our park.

**Reminder**

Join us for our First Day Hike on 01/01/2025!

We will be giving out free First Day Hike shirts on a first-come first-served basis. Coffee, hot chocolate, and granola bars will also be provided for, courtesy of the Friends of Elk City State Park.

Come join us at 9 a.m. for Green Thumb Trail (1 mile) or 11 a.m. for Table Mound Trail (2.75 miles). Feel free to walk at your own pace and turn around at any point during either hike. We will be meeting at the Timber Road Shelter House for both hikes.

The park office will be open if you have any questions.

If you feel inclined, bring non-perishable food items that we can donate to the local food bank.

1st Launch Date: Friday, December 13th (OPENS AT NOON) for Cheney SP, Cedar Bluff SP, Clinton SP, Eisenhower SP, Hillsdale SP, Kanopolis SP, Meade SP, Milford SP, Pomona SP, Perry SP, Sandhills SP, Tuttle Creek SP.
2nd Launch Date: Friday, December 20th (OPENS AT NOON) for Crawford SP, Cross Timbers SP, El Dorado SP, *****ELK CITY STATE PARK******, Fall River SP, Glen Elder SP, Historic Lake Scott SP, Lovewell SP, Prairie Dog SP, Webster SP, Wilson SP.
Holiday Minimums for 2025:
Campsites >> Memorial Weekend 4 night minimum Thurs. May 22, 23, 24, 25; July 4th Weekend 3 night minimum Thurs. July 3, July 4, July 5; Labor Day weekend 3 night minimum Fri. Aug 29, Aug 30, Aug 31.
Cabins >> Memorial Weekend is Fri/Sat/Sun May 23rd, 24th, 25th; July 4th Weekend 2 night minimum Fri. July 4th and 5th; Labor Day holiday is Fri/Sat/Sun Aug 29, 30 and 31st. CABIN minimums for 2026 holidays are: Memorial Day holiday is Fri/Sat/Sun May 22nd, 23rd, 24th; July 4th holiday is Fri/Sat July 3rd, 4th; Labor Day holiday is Fri/Sat/Sun Sept 4th, 5th 6th.
