The Buchanan County Health Trust is pleased to award over $90,000 in grant funding to area organizations to support health and medical-related projects and equipment.
Grant recipients include:
•$31,500 to Buchanan County Health Center for a new recumbent bike for the Wellness Center and a TIMS Machine for advanced swallow studies
•$12,208 to the City of Independence Iowa, Fire Department for ballistic personal protective equipment
•$1,250 to Immanuel Lutheran Church- Indee for nursing program training and equipment
•$12,500 to Jesup Fire Department for new SCBAs (self-contained breathing apparatus)
•$6,919 to Buchanan County Emergency Management for AEDs and trauma bags
•$3,139 to City of Hazleton Fire Dept for helmet accessories and a thermal camera
•$15,000 to the City of Independence, IA Government for AEDs
•$5,320 to Buchanan County EMS Association for first responder carbon monoxide detectors
•$2,730 to Winthrop KidsCorner for an AED, LifeVac, and CPR/First Aid training
Since its founding in 1989, the Health Trust has awarded over $1.2 million to local nonprofit organizations in need of medical or health related equipment, supplies, training, and/or educational needs.
