BOOK IT! Summer of Stories is back for another fun-filled, nostalgic summer of reading adventures and pizza prizes!

Our summer program officially begins TODAY, June 1 and runs through August 31 for children in PreK–6th grade nationwide.

✨ The first official reward claim period opens July 1!

Parents, here are a few important reminders:

📅 Reading days must be marked on the calendar inside the BOOK IT! App. If you miss a day, you’re able to go back up to 7 days.
📖 Children must read at least 15 days within the month, and parents must track those reading days in the app calendar to qualify for their pizza reward.

If you experience any issues, please contact us before the end of the month using the Contact Support page located in the app menu or on our website so we can assist you in time.

At Mill Creek, magic doesn’t just happen inside the classroom, sometimes it stays long after school hours too. ❤️

Melanie has poured her heart into Mill Creek both as an educator and as a PTA board member. She has helped shape not only young minds, but also the strong sense of community that makes our school feel like home. Her dedication reminds us that the true magic of Mill Creek comes from people who care deeply, lead humbly, and serve wholeheartedly.

We interviewed Melanie and here are her answers to some fun questions about being a PTA and school leader:

✨You wear two hats: educator and PTA leader. Which one comes with more surprises?
🔸 My position as an Early Ed FSL. I never know what might happen throughout the day. Kids are funny!

✨What’s something unique you see from being on both sides?
🔸Just how much the teachers and staff care for our families and want them to feel loved here.

✨What keeps you saying “yes” to volunteering year after year?
🔸I want families to have a fun and safe environment to interact and have fun with one another.

✨What’s your secret to balancing all the things?
🔸I don't have the secret but I do heavily rely on my calendar.

✨If you had to recruit someone to PTA in ONE sentence, what would you say?
🔸Try it, its fun!

✨If your desk could talk… what would it expose?
🔸Not much... its highly organized but there are snacks 😁

✨What’s something you wish every parent knew?
🔸That a good routine makes all the difference.

🤠✨ Recognition Roundup: Meet the Magic Behind Mill Creek ✨🤠

Some people volunteer occasionally. Some people show up when they can. And then there are the people who quietly weave themselves into the heart of a school community year after year. ❤️

Ashley has worn two incredibly important hats at Mill Creek: dedicated educator and devoted PTA leader. Whether she’s helping students grow during the school day or helping PTA create unforgettable moments after the bell rings, her impact can be felt in every corner of our school.

We interviewed Ashley and here are her answers to some fun questions about being a PTA and school leader:

✨You wear two hats: educator and PTA leader. Which one comes with more surprises?
🔸I feel like both come with surprises. As a PTA leader, I am consistently surprised with how giving the community can be. As an educator, I am surprised by how attached I become to my students. They become like my own kids over the school year and I always have a hard time telling them goodbye at the end of the year.

✨What’s something unique you see from being on both sides?
🔸The perspective of being on both sides is unique because it allows me to see many parents and families in a non-academic or behavior related way. I get to interact with them at our events and enjoy their company!

✨What’s one PTA moment that meant a lot to you as staff?
🔸I always enjoy the appreciation that PTA shows the Mill Creek staff!

✨What’s your secret to balancing all the things?
🔸I have NO secret...I am a night owl, so I get a lot of things done "behind the scenes".

✨If you had to recruit someone to PTA in ONE sentence, what would you say?
🔸PTA is an amazing organization that supports families, students, and staff and JUST by joining you are helping!

✨What would your students say is your most-used phrase?
🔸Be kind! If you take one thing away from third grade this year, I hope it is that you are kind.

✨What’s something you wish every parent knew?
🔸I wish that every parent knew and understood how much I care about their kiddos! I don't show up everyday for the money, to do lesson plans, or to get accolades...I show up because of the students! They are what drive me to be who I am as a teacher!

✨Coffee or soda?
🔸I enjoy both! I am always down for an iced coffee or a Coconut Dr. Pepper Zero!

Mill Creek is lucky to learn from her, lead beside her, and celebrate her today. 🤠✨

Reminder this is tonight!

Next week is our 5th Grade Graduation! We hope immediate families can join us to celebrate our Mustangs as they head off to elementary school!

Wednesday, May 20th - we will start promptly at 6:00pm. The doors will open for seating at 5:30pm.
