* WHERE...Portions of north central and northwest Illinois and east
central and northeast Iowa.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Thunderstorms and storm outflow may interrupt
the heat at times.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.

* WHAT...Visibility of one quarter mile or less in dense fog. The fog
is expected to impact the morning commute. Visibilities may change
suddenly over very short distances.

* WHERE...Benton, Jones, Linn, Buchanan, Delaware, and Dubuque
Counties.

* WHEN...Until 10 AM CDT this morning.

* IMPACTS...Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of
distance ahead of you.

An emergency water shutdown is occurring due to a water main leak in the 100 block of 4th Ave. NE. The shutdown will affect residents between 1st Street East and 5th Street Northeast, and 2nd Ave. NE and 5th Ave. NE. Water is expected to be shut off immediately and restored by late afternoon. Please note that in unexpected situations, other areas near this location could be affected.

🚧 Construction Update: 2026 HMA Street Rehabilitation Project 🚧

Our 2026 HMA Street Rehabilitation project begins today, August 17! Tschiggfrie Excavating Company and its subcontractors are kicking off the project this week with saw cutting, fixture adjustments, and full-depth pavement patches.

Over the course of the project, crews will also be working on curb, gutter, and sidewalk replacements, followed by a new Hot Mix Asphalt overlay.

What you need to know:

- Access to private properties will be maintained at all times unless specific arrangements are made.

- "No Parking" signs will be placed within the active project areas this week.

- Please avoid parking in areas where work is taking place so construction crews can operate safely and efficiently.

Work is scheduled to wrap up in early October, but is subject to weather impacts of course. We thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to complete this important infrastructure improvement project!

On Monday, August 17th, there will be a water shutdown due to a water main project on 11th Ave NE. The shutdown will affect residents on 3rd St NE between 10th Ave and 11th Ave NE, on 10th Ave NE between 3rd St and 4th St NE, and on 11th Ave NE between 3rd St and 4th St NE. The water is expected to be shut off around 9:00 AM and back on around noon.

Please note that in unexpected situations, other areas near this location could be affected.
