As Labor Day weekend approaches, the California Highway Patrol El Centro Area reminds everyone to celebrate responsibly and make traffic safety a priority. The CHP wants everyone to make it to their destination safely.
The statewide Labor Day Holiday Enforcement Period begins today, September 4, at 6:01 p.m. and continues through Monday, September 7, at 11:59 p.m. During this time period, CHP officers will focus on unsafe driving and removing impaired drivers from California’s roadways.
If you plan to drink, designate a sober driver, use a rideshare service, or arrange to stay overnight. Always buckle up, avoid distractions, and never drive impaired.
If you see a suspected impaired driver, call 9-1-1. Your call could save a life.

A new chapter is officially underway. Pictured is Captain Ernesto Ruedas with our CHP El Centro dispatchers. The 1st photo is inside of our longtime dispatch center, and the second photo is in our brand new office at 2802 S. 4th Street in El Centro.
After countless calls, radio transmissions, and memories made in the old office, our dispatch team is excited to begin this next chapter in a new home.
New office. New memories. Same incredible team keeping our officers connected and our community moving forward!

A new chapter begins for the CHP El Centro Area.
Pictured above, Captain Ernesto Ruedas delivers the first-ever briefing inside the new California Highway Patrol El Centro office. Also pictured are the officers and staff who were there to be part of this historic first briefing—a moment marking the beginning of a new era for our Area.

The End of an Era.

For decades, this building has been home to generations of CHP employees who proudly served the Imperial Valley and created countless memories along the way.

After more than 70 years of serving the Imperial Valley from our facility at 2331 Highway 86 in Imperial, the California Highway Patrol El Centro Area is moving to a new location.
Since the 1950s, this facility has been home to generations of CHP officers and employees who proudly served the Imperial Valley. While we leave behind a building filled with decades of history and memories, we look forward to beginning a new chapter.
Beginning Monday, August 24, 2026, we will officially begin operations at:

2802 S. 4th Street, El Centro, CA

Our location may be changing, but our commitment remains the same ; providing Safety, Service, and Security to the communities we proudly serve.
