Reliable water service starts with preparedness. As hurricane season begins, we encourage our customers to review emergency plans, stock essential supplies, and stay connected for important service updates.

The 2026 Atlantic hurricane season just started, but Florida is dedicated to disaster preparedness all year round. We always plan for the worst that nature can throw at us, and we execute those plans to ensure effective response, recovery, and restoration.

I encourage all Florida residents and visitors to have a household plan for hurricane season that considers the needs of children, seniors, and pets in their family. Disaster preparedness essentials—including many pet items—are now tax-free in Florida.

Make sure to follow and your local emergency management for important updates heading into this hurricane season!

🚧 TRAFFIC ALERT 🚧
Beginning today through Friday, May 22, emergency repairs will be underway on a leaking water main at the corner of SR 29 and Lake Trafford, east of the intersection between CVS and First Baptist Church.

Traffic will still be allowed through the area; however, drivers should expect delays and slower traffic. Eastbound traffic will be shifted to utilize the westbound south turn lane during repairs.

Please pay close attention to the traffic controller on site, who will direct drivers and flag when it is safe to proceed through the work zone.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation while crews complete these necessary repairs.

Since 2019, University of Florida IFAS researchers have been studying the use of Brazilian peppertree thrips as a biological control method for invasive Brazilian peppertree at multiple locations across Florida, including a designated area on our property.

Last Friday, UF/IFAS staff visited the site to monitor the project’s progress and observed that the Brazilian peppertree in the area had been noticeably scaled back, indicating the thrips are successfully impacting the invasive plants.

Brazilian peppertree is one of Florida’s most aggressive invasive species, often requiring extensive mechanical and chemical treatment to control its spread.
