On September 20th, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Village of Ilion Police Department will be holding a Car Seat Check Event in the rear Municipal Building Parking lot. Please see the below flyer for more details. This is not a free seat giveaway, however, if your seat is deemed to be unsafe for your child and you meet other eligibility requirements, a seat can be provided to ensure the safety of your child.

On September 10th, 2026, the New York State Department of Transportation will be conducting road work on Otsego Street / State Route 51, from Morgan Street to West Street. The west side of the roadway will be posted with temporary no parking signs starting this afternoon, September 9th, 2026, until the work is completed in the evening of September 10th, 2026.

During this time frame, there will be no parking in this area of Otsego Street / State Route 51. Any vehicle violating the temporary no parking restrictions are subject to ticketing and can be towed. Thank you for your cooperation during this short period of time.

The Village of Ilion Police Department, in collaboration with Stewart's Shops, will be participating in National Coffee with a Cop Day. This will take place at the Ilion Stewarts on October 7th, 2026 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

We hope to see you there for a meaningful conversation and a free coffee!

The first day of school is approaching quickly and the Ilion Police Department would like to remind parents and caregivers to be cautious of what they post online.

We all love taking photo’s of our children on the first day of school. Maybe it is to document their progress in moving up grade levels in school, or even to brag to your friends and family about how cute they are. With the world we live in today, we should be very cautious about posting the following:

❌Child’s age
❌Child’s grade
❌Child’s last name
❌Teacher’s name
❌School name
❌Photo’s identifying your house, house number, etc…
❌Child’s favorite things
❌School bus number
❌Other identifying information

While this is innocent information for most, the details above could be used by individuals wishing to cause harm against your child or you. Let’s face it, there is a lot of future password reminder information listed as well. Be smart and keep your family safe.

Please see below for two more 4-way stop sign controlled intersections that have been installed. These are located at Elm Street and Fourth Street as well as Elm Street and Center Street.

SCAM WARNING:

The Ilion Police have received multiple complaints regarding an individual using the company name “Urban Haven Properties”, listing 213 West Main Street, in the Village of Ilion, for rent. It is reported that the individual using this company name requests money from those interested in renting the property, utilizing applications such as Cash App. It has been reported that a phone number appears on the listing, however a person cannot be reached, and that communication is completed through text only. At this time, the listing has only been seen on TikTok, however it is unknown if the property has been listed for rent on any additional social media platforms.

The Ilion Police Department has contacted a representative of Coldwell Banker Faith Properties, who have verified that 213 West Main Street is for sale, however not for rent.

The Ilion Police Department is currently investigating these complaints and urge social media users to refrain from sending money or making contact with any individual or "company" who has not first been verified as legitimate.
