Catholic Charities of Herkimer County

Catholic Charities of Herkimer County www.ccherkimercounty.org The agency was located in Herkimer, NY for many years. There have been many changes in services offered throughout the past 36 years.

Catholic Charities of Herkimer County opened its doors in 1980 under the name Catholic Family and Community Services, with two programs: Services for the Elderly, under the direction of Sister Rachel Ricciardelli, and Community Maternity Services, under the local leadership of Louise Leonard and Sister Stella Valerio. The agency moved to its current address in Ilion in 1995 and in 1997, the agency changed its name to Catholic Charities of Herkimer County. We currently serve over 9,000 residents of Herkimer County by offering a wide variety of programs with the intention of improving the lives of the poor and vulnerable in the county.

Help Us Support Our Community Through Mohawk Valley Gives

This year, we’re raising support for our basic needs programs in Herkimer County, including:

🥫 Food Pantry – Helping families keep food on the table.
🔥 Emergency Assistance – Helping with urgent needs like heat and utilities.
🏠 Housing Programs – Helping individuals and families find and maintain safe, stable housing.

For many of our neighbors, these programs are essential — providing food, warmth, and a safe place to live during difficult times.

📅 Early Giving begins September 14
💙 MV Gives Day is September 18

Please consider making a donation and sharing our campaign!

📣 If you work with youth, raise youth, support youth, or simply care about what young people are facing today, this series is for you.

The world our kids are growing up in is changing fast. New substances and trends emerge. Social media creates challenges that didn’t exist a generation ago. Teen brains are still developing while they’re being asked to make increasingly complicated decisions. And the adults supporting them need the knowledge and tools to keep up.

That’s exactly why we created our FREE Virtual Prevention Lunch & Learn Series. 💻🥪

Just one hour over lunch can give you information you can actually use at work, at home, and in your community.

✨ September 15 | Prevention 101
What does prevention really look like? Learn how effective prevention strategies can strengthen youth, families, and entire communities.

🔎 October 20 | Current Trends Affecting Youth
What are young people being exposed to right now? We’ll take a closer look at behaviors, substances, emerging trends, and the challenges adults need to be paying attention to.

🧠 November 17 | Inside the Developing Teen Brain
Ever wonder why teens can be incredibly thoughtful one minute and make a completely baffling decision the next? Learn how brain development affects emotions, relationships, decision-making, risk-taking, and behavior.

📱 December 15 | Social Media Safety
Cyberbullying. Online boundaries. Digital risks. Social media pressure. Learn practical ways to help young people navigate an online world that can sometimes feel impossible to escape.

These conversations matter.

The more we understand what young people are experiencing, why they respond the way they do, and what actually helps, the better equipped we are to support them before problems become crises.

And the best part?

✅ FREE to attend
✅ Completely virtual
✅ 12:00–1:00 PM
✅ Attend from your office, home, or wherever you spend your lunch hour
✅ Practical information you can take with you long after the session ends

Whether you’re a parent, caregiver, teacher, counselor, coach, prevention professional, social service provider, community partner, or someone who simply wants to make a difference, we would love to have you join us.

🚨 Our first session is rapidly approaching on September 15th, so now is the time to register!
