How Idanha Works, Part 2: Your Questions, Answered
How rules, enforcement and money work in our small city

Who enforces the rules?
Idanha has no police department or code enforcement officer. The Marion County and Linn County Sheriffs provide law enforcement, and the city can assess fines for certain code violations. If you see a serious violation of law, call 911 or the county sheriff dispatch where you live.

What do I do about a city code violation?
Fill out the city's official complaint form. The council reviews complaints at each monthly meeting and decides the response. Five volunteers can't see every corner of town, so the complaint form is how you become the city't eyes and ears.

Where can I read the city's rules?
The city's laws are called ordinances. The most frequently used ones are posted at www.cityofidanha.us, and the city is working to post more.

Who pays for the city?
The city covers its modest expenses with property taxes, water fees, a small share of state revenues, and special grants.

Our mayor, Tony Morones, marched in the Portland Rose Parade this year. He participated with about 50 other mayors from around Oregon, and taught several people how to pronounce Idanha correctly.
Thank you for representing our small town, Mayor Morones!
