🚲⚑ Keeping Idalou Kids Safe This Summer ⚑🚲

School is out, the weather is warm, and children throughout our community are enjoying time outdoors on bicycles and e-bikes.

The Idalou Police Department has received concerns regarding rider safety, including speeding, failure to stop at stop signs, and other behaviors that can place young riders at risk. Our goal is not to take away the funβ€”it is to help ensure every child returns home safely.

Over the past year, the Idalou Police Department has partnered with Idalou ISD to provide bicycle and e-bike safety training for students. While we have seen positive improvements, keeping our children safe requires a community effort.

We invite parents, grandparents, family members, neighbors, and all community members to join us for a Bicycle & E-Bike Safety Meeting:

πŸ“… Thursday, June 11, 2026
πŸ•– 7:00 PM
πŸ“ Idalou ISD Lecture Hall

Join us as we discuss bicycle and e-bike safety, current laws, and ways we can work together to help our young riders make smart decisions while sharing the road.

Let's partner together to keep Idalou safe this summer! πŸš΄β€β™€οΈβ˜€οΈ

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ D-Day – June 6, 1944 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Today we pause to remember the brave Americans and Allied forces who stormed the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944, during one of the most pivotal moments in history.

Among those who landed that day were thousands of young menβ€”many just 18, 19, and 20 years old. They were not much older than our own sons, grandsons, students, and neighbors. Young men standing on the threshold of adulthood, with dreams to pursue, families to build, and lives still ahead of them. Yet when their nation called, they answered with courage and determination, facing dangers few of us can truly imagine.

Many never returned home. Others carried the physical and emotional scars of war for the rest of their lives. Their sacrifice helped secure the freedoms we enjoy today and changed the course of history.

As we go about our day, may we take a moment to reflect on the extraordinary bravery displayed on the shores of Normandy and to honor those who gave so much for future generations they would never meet.

We remember their courage.
We honor their sacrifice.
We remain grateful for their service.
