Today, ISPD joins our community and the nation in remembering the lives lost 25 years ago on 9/11 and honoring the first responders, service members, and countless others whose courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

At 4:00 PM today, ISPD will host a silent emergency responder parade in remembrance of 9/11. Emergency vehicles will travel westbound on Miner Street from 17th Avenue to 14th Avenue in a quiet tribute to those we lost and those who answered the call that day.

We invite residents and visitors to line the route and join us in a moment of silence and remembrance as the procession passes.

May we never forget the lives lost, the heroes who ran toward danger, and the unity our nation showed in the days that followed.

🚨UPDATE – SUSPECT APPREHEND! 🚨

The suspect wanted in connection with the September 2nd carjacking in Idaho Springs has been apprehended.

After a short pursuit in Lincoln County, Nebraska, William Williams of Westminster, Colorado, was taken into custody and arrested on multiple charges related to the carjacking incident.

At the time of his arrest, Mr. Williams was also reportedly on probation out of Westminster for a prior theft case.

ISPD would like to thank the agencies involved in locating and apprehending the suspect, as well as everyone who shared our original post and remained alert while this investigation was active.

At approximately 10:00 a.m. on September 2, 2026, ISPD responded to a reported carjacking involving a guest staying at a motel in the 2700 block of Colorado Boulevard.

ISPD is actively investigating and is asking the public to be on the lookout for a maroon Kia Optima sedan (LIC: CXRP93).

The suspect remains at large. If you see the vehicle or believe you may have information related to this incident, do not approach or attempt to make contact. Call 911 and provide the vehicle’s location, direction of travel, and any other information you can safely observe.

ISPD will provide additional information when appropriate as the investigation continues.

Tomorrow’s the Day! Come Hang Out With Us at C3!

Bring the kiddos and come spend a few hours with your local first responders from 11:00 AM–2:00 PM at the ballfields in Idaho Springs!

There will be live music, food trucks, face painting, activities for the kids, and plenty of first responders with all kinds of gadgets, equipment, and emergency vehicles to check out!

Come down, grab some food, let the kids burn off some energy, and enjoy the day with us!

An ISPD officer observed a white Ford Explorer traveling 73 mph in a 45 mph construction zone near the Floyd Hill construction zone. The vehicle fled westbound on I-70.

The vehicle was displaying CO License plate ERFJ12, which was determined to be registered to a different vehicle and considered fictitious.

Deputies with the Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office attempted to deploy stop sticks at mile marker 228 near Georgetown, but the suspect turned around and went eastbound on I-70 back towards Idaho Springs.

The CCSO assumed lead agency traveling through the county, and, due to the suspect's dangerous driving, the initiating ISPD officer decided to terminate the pursuit for all units. No injuries or property damage occurred.

The driver is described as a white male in his late 20s to early 30s with wavy/curly brown hair (short on the sides, longer on top).

For 43 years, the question has remained the same: What happened to Beth Miller?

On August 16, 1983, 14-year-old Beth went for a jog in Idaho Springs and never came home. Her family has spent more than four decades without the answers they deserve. They should not have to wait any longer.

ISPD is actively investigating Beth’s disappearance, and we are asking anyone with information to come forward.

Maybe you saw something.
Maybe you heard something.
Maybe someone told you something years ago that you dismissed, questioned, or were afraid to repeat.
Maybe you have carried information with you since 1983.

Do not assume investigators already know. Do not assume your information is too small, too old, or insignificant. A single detail could provide the piece investigators need to better understand what happened to Beth. Memories fade. Circumstances change. But the truth does not.

If you know ANYTHING about the disappearance of Beth Miller, please contact Sgt. Ryan Frost. Someone may have the information that can help solve this case. If that person is you, please come forward.

Beth has not been forgotten. We are still looking, we are still asking questions, and we will not give up!

ISPD is excited to welcome students, teachers, staff, and families back for another great year!

As everyone returns to their school-day routines, please remember a few important safety tips:

🚶Students walking to school: Keep headphones and earbuds off so you can hear traffic and what is happening around you. Put phones away, use sidewalks and crosswalks, and look both ways before crossing the street.

🚸 Drivers: Slow down in school zones, avoid distractions, and watch carefully for students, crossing guards, and school buses.

We’ll do our best to have officers near the school during arrival and dismissal to help keep everyone safe. Feel free to wave or come say hello when it’s safe to do so; no traffic stop required!

Let’s all work together to make the first day, and the entire school year, safe, fun, and successful. Have a wonderful year, Cougars!🐾

At approximately noon today, the Idaho Springs Police Department responded to the 300 block of Soda Creek Road for a medical emergency.

ISPD officers were the first to arrive on scene and immediately began providing lifesaving measures until EMS personnel arrived. The patient was later airlifted to a metro-area hospital for further treatment. The patient's condition is currently unknown.

During the helicopter landing and transport, the westbound I-70 on-ramp at mile marker 239 was briefly closed to ensure the patient's safe transport.

On August 4th, at approximately 8:20 p.m., an Idaho Springs officer stopped a driver on I-70 after clocking the vehicle at 105 MPH in a 65 MPH zone. During the stop, officers found a 4-year-old and a 6-year-old child in the vehicle with no child safety seats in the car. The driver was also found to be driving with a suspended license.

The driver, a 28-year-old Aurora resident, was arrested on charges including Child Abuse, Reckless Endangerment, Reckless Driving, Speeding 40 MPH over the limit, and Driving Under Suspension. The children were safely released to the other parent.
