A tropical experience in eastern Idaho awaits at the brand-new Islands exhibit, NOW OPEN, at the Idaho Falls Zoo!

The Islands exhibit brings fascinating new animal species to the Idaho Falls Zoo, including the fossa, nene (Hawaiian goose), Madagascar hissing cockroaches, a rosy boa, and a ball python.

It also provides new and improved habitats for some of the Zoo’s existing animals: ring-tailed lemurs, collared lemurs, Omar the Aldabra tortoise, white-faced whistling ducks, and various African bird species.

New animals, improved habitats, playgrounds, interactives and a virtual reality experience all come together throughout the exhibit to help visitors better understand wildlife and our connection to the natural world.

The Islands exhibit was all made possible through the extraordinary generosity of many donors, contractors, community members and the hard work of Zoo and Parks & Recreation Staff.

200 YARDS OF WILLOWS AND DEBRIS—GONE! 💪☀️

A HUGE THANK YOU to Melaleuca: The Wellness Company and their amazing staff of volunteers who came out yesterday afternoon, braved the heat, and got to work improving the west bank of the river and Freeman Park!

Parks staff and volunteers worked together to remove approximately 200 yards of willows and debris, helping tackle invasive species and making the River Walk safer, more scenic and more accessible for our community and visitors.

This was the 4th Annual Melaleuca: The Wellness Company Volunteer Event, and we’re really starting to see the positive impact this yearly effort is having on the river! Year after year, their hard work is helping keep this beautiful community resource looking its best.

Special thanks to Idaho Falls Sanitation for donating 30-yard dumpsters to help make the cleanup possible!

Thank you, Melaleuca volunteers, for continuing to invest your time and energy into making Idaho Falls a better place for everyone! ❤️
