At Snake River Animal Shelter, our mission is to improve and save animal lives by promoting quality care and compassion through adoption and humane education in the region. We are the only non-profit animal sheltering facility serving all East Idaho, and we strive to implement innovative programs to alleviate the overpopulation of unwanted pets. 🐾 COOKIE: 100% BIG, FLUFFY TEDDY BEAR 🧸❤️

At 5 years old, Cookie is a big, beautiful Australian Shepherd/Newfoundland mix with one very important specialty: being an absolute sweetheart. Gentle and affectionate, Cookie loves her people, gets excited when it's time for a walk, and is always happy to settle in with a good stuffy or chew bone.

Cookie has spent much of her time in an outdoor kennel run, but she's house trained AND crate trained, walks well on a leash, knows sit, and has no problems being left alone. She's lived with her family her entire life and is now looking for a new home after changes in their household and living environment.

Cookie's former family describes her simply as a "big teddy bear," and we think that says a lot about this sweet girl. She has no history of biting, lunging, or hurting another animal and doesn't mind being touched anywhere.

Cookie isn't looking for anything complicated—just a family who will love her, include her in their lives, take her on walks, and provide plenty of stuffies to love.

🐾 BLUE: SWEET, SMART & READY TO RUN STRAIGHT INTO YOUR HEART! 💙

Blue is an energetic Blue Heeler with the perfect combination of adventure buddy and cuddle bug! He loves to run, go for walks, play with chew toys, and burn off that classic Heeler energy—but when the day is over, this sweet boy is more than happy to curl up with his person. When he lived indoors, he even slept in bed with his owner!

Blue is house trained and crate trained, walks well on a leash, knows sit, and does well when left alone. He's affectionate, loves giving kisses, and has never shown aggression toward people. He can be a little hesitant around unfamiliar men at first, so he may just need some time to realize he's made a new friend.

Blue's family loves him, but after a change in their household, life on a farm with other dogs and livestock simply isn't the right environment for him. That's not a reflection of how much he has to offer in the right home.

His perfect match would be an active family that can give this smart, energetic boy plenty of exercise, adventures, and attention—with no chickens or livestock to tempt those Heeler instincts!

We're not "saying" that Violet worked as a stunt double on the new film "The Dog Stars" but we're also not saying she didn't 😉. Violet is available now for adoption and would be best with an experienced owner who can train her to shine like the diamond she is! She would do best as your only pet but can tolerate some gentlemanly dogs.
