McCurtain County 9-1-1 For emergencies call 9-1-1

🔥I cannot stress this enough! Call 9-1-1 for a fire! Not the Sheriff’s Department. Not the Volunteer Fire Department’s google search phone number. Not the Fire Chief or a fire fighter. 9-1-1 gives us an exact location. And we tone all fire departments!

Wed 9/2 — The Hour Nobody Posts About

Nobody’s struggling at 2 in the afternoon.
It’s 3:17 a.m. House is quiet. Phone’s face-up. And the thought that’s been circling all week finally sits down next to you.
That’s the hour we built this for.
You don’t have to have the words. You don’t have to be in crisis. You just have to reach out before the sun comes up.

Not a good idea to be burning things even though our county is not under a burn ban. The County Commissioners are who votes on burn bans here, unless the Governor himself issues one. Beavers Bend State Park is under a burn ban issued by Oklahoma State Parks. Yesterday’s fire was from a contractor’s burn pile getting out of control, per the Hochatown fb page.

Despite some recent rainfall, flash drought conditions continue across the entire Four State Region. As a result, much of the region is under a Burn Ban at this time. The wildfire threat will continue with no significant rainfall expected through the first week of September.

We have received a lot of 9-1-1 calls about the fire North of the Timbuktu area and have spoken with the Hochatown Fire Chief who is monitoring it. We have been told the fire is contained and will most likely burn all night.
