📚 Fall Fun at the Ida Grove Public Library!

We have lots of fun planned for kids and families this fall! Join us for:

📖 Little Readers Storytime — Stories, crafts, and fun for ages 0–4. 1st and 3rd Friday of each month at 10:30am

🎨 After School Fun — Hands-on activities, crafts, games, special guests, and more for K–5th grade on early-out days at 1:30pm

🎬 Family Movie Afternoons — Free, family-friendly movies for all ages on select no-school days at 1pm

📚 Fall Adult Programs at the Ida Grove Public Library! 📚

We have some great programs coming up this fall, and we’d love to have you join us! We’re welcoming Iowa authors, historians, and special presenters for a variety of free programs that are open to everyone.

Disaster Preparedness & Technology
Learn how your smartphone and technology can help you prepare for emergencies, stay informed, receive alerts, and keep connected during a disaster or power outage.
⚠️ Registration is required, and we need at least 5 people registered for the presenter to come! Call the library to sign up.

Beyond the Parlor Walls with Ann Hanigan Kotz
Iowa author Ann Hanigan Kotz will share the stories of Iowa women who helped champion education, build public libraries, improve civic life, and strengthen their communities.

✍️ October 3 • 12:30–2:00 PM
Author Visit & Book Signing with Amber Campbell
Meet local Iowa author Amber Campbell, author of the Maple Hollow series! Hear about her books and journey as an author, and stay afterward to meet her, ask questions, and have books signed.

🏛️ October 13 • 5:30 PM
Rosie the Riveters of Iowa with Linda McCann
Join Iowa author and historian Linda McCann for an engaging look at the stories and history of Iowa’s Rosie the Riveters.

All programs are free and open to the public. Mark your calendars, bring a friend, and watch for individual event posts with more information as each program gets closer!

Just a reminder that the Ida Grove Public Library will be closed Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.

🚨 Are You Prepared for an Emergency? Your Smartphone Can Help! 📱

Join us at the library for an upcoming Disaster Preparedness & Technology class!

Technology can be an important part of staying safe and informed during severe weather, natural disasters, power outages, and other emergencies. This hands-on presentation will show you how to make the most of the technology you already have.

We’ll cover:
• How to use the FEMA and Red Cross apps, including setting emergency alerts
• Helpful built-in features on your smartphone
• Ways to keep your phone and other essential devices charged during a prolonged power outage
• How to use social media to get emergency information from local and national authorities

This is a great opportunity to learn some simple things you can do before an emergency happens that could make a big difference when you need them.

👉 We need at least 5 people registered for the presenter to come to the library, so please register if you’re interested! And feel free to share this post with family and friends who might benefit from the class.

Is that AI? Come join us to train your eye to recognize AI!

Thursday August 20 @ 1pm!

With the advances in artificial intelligence (AI) technology, AI programs can now create text, images, and much more. At first sight, it may be hard to tell if what you see was created or altered by AI.

In this session, we’ll hear from Pam with Connections Area Agency on Aging, and she'll teach us tips and tools to help determine if an image or piece of writing was generated by AI.

We’ll also discuss what tech companies like Google are doing to create systems to detect the use of AI.
