Friends of Stony Brook Reservation | Boston, MA For people who enjoy spending time in the Stony Brook Reservation and would like to share their experiences with others. Open year-round, dawn to dusk.

Enneking, Dedham and Turtle Pond Parkways wind through extensive tree covered hills, valleys, rock-outcroppings and wetlands; past Turtle Pond and into Hyde Park. Stony Brook Reservation contains 475 acres of scenic landscapes and a variety of recreational facilities. Ten to twelve miles of hiking trails and bicycle paths meander through the quiet, forested portion of the reservation. Sunfish and

Perch swim in the fresh waters of Turtle Pond, an easily accessible spot for fishing. In the Reservation's southern section are soccer and baseball fields, tennis courts, picnic areas , an ice skating rink, and a pool.

Thanks to the hard work of DCR, the fast action of State Rep. Rob Consalvo, and the action of concerned citizens including the Friends Group, the Enneking parking lot is clean and re-opened.

UPDATE: DCR closed the Enneking Pwky parking lot to Stony Brook with no community consultation. DCR was notified about trash dumping and had pledged to clear it. Instead they didn't act over several weeks and the problem worsened.

DCR took the time to block off the parking lot but didn't clear the trash. Plenty of residents are still accessing the site but now need to traverse trash.
The dumping appears connected to one out of State individual (based on receipts in the bins and boxes of dumped trash).

Clearly, the lot needs to be reopened and DCR needs to coordinate with residents about upkeep.

Keep an eye on this site as we may ask for your assistance in ensuring adequate public access and accountability.

Nice to see DCR extensively remove trash today off of Enneking and Dedham Parkways.

Stay tuned for more news on cleanup efforts and thanks to all who have
self organized to look after sections of Stony Brook and instigated clean ups (here’s a shot from a path I “adopted” and have been maintaining. I’m including it because posts with photos get more attention and I failed to snap a picture of the large roadside clean up).

I thought friends of Stony Brook might appreciate the story of a little friend who has taken up residence just outside the reservation. Her name is Robbie and she just built a house in two days; a little exposed, but she has a good perch to survey her dominion. Hopefully, we'll see some cute kids, but her first task: find a suitable mate!
