We are saddened to learn of the situation unfolding today at the Hudson River Psychiatric Center.

Our thoughts are with the firefighters and first responders working on the scene, and we sincerely hope for their safety and well-being.

We are deeply grateful for their courage and dedication in protecting our community, and we hope that this important historic building is spared from significant damage.

Great news from the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site!

Tours of Top Cottage have officially begun! Experience the serene hideaway that Franklin D. Roosevelt constructed at the pinnacle of Dutchess Hill. On the same porch where FDR entertained King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, you can contemplate the private thoughts of the 32nd President with the guidance of a park ranger.

Every Saturday and Sunday from May 23 through November 1, 2026, tours of Top Cottage will be offered at 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 3:00PM.

Tickets are available only in-person at the Henry A. Wallace Visitor Center at 4079 Albany Post Rd, Hyde Park, NY 12538 on the day of your desired tour. The cost of each space is a $10 amenity fee which an NPS America the Beautiful pass will NOT cover. Spaces on the tour are limited to 12 people.

Access to Top Cottage is only possible by a tour shuttle ride that begins at the visitor center. An NPS ranger will be your driver. The trip is approximately 15 minutes up to the cottage and 15 minutes back down to the visitor center. If you have accessibility concerns, we have options to accommodate your tour.
