At last night's Council meeting, the Hutto City Council approved a sales tax sharing agreement with Williamson County ESD #3. After months of negotiation, we have successfully secured… essentially the exact same deal we already had.

Here's what it means for our community:
💸 A 60/40 share of certain sales tax revenue, which helps free up property tax dollars for other community priorities
🚰 Emergency infrastructure like water systems for fire protection and roads built for fire apparatus get funded
👍 Newly annexed properties continue contributing to the City's share

Hutto taxpayers deserve the best deal possible, and we are not done working toward that. The City of Hutto remains focused on finding solutions that put our residents first and build a stronger, safer community for everyone who calls Hutto home.

We’re looking back at the Norman Hotel- a piece of Hutto history from the early 1900s.

Located north of the railroad tracks near East Street, the hotel once welcomed travelers and locals alike during Hutto’s railroad days. These photos capture moments outside the hotel, from residents gathered on the porch to a rainy day scene frozen in time. One photo even shows signage for insurance services offered by W.M. Norman, giving a small glimpse into the businesses that once shaped downtown Hutto.

Though the Norman Hotel no longer stands, its story remains part of Hutto’s history.

The City has received preliminary results from the recent election. At this time, all results remain unofficial until the canvass at the Special Called City Council Meeting on May 13 at 5 PM. Williamson County Elections continues to review mail‑in and provisional ballots as they finalize the numbers.

Once the results have been canvassed, Corina I. Zepeda will be sworn in as Councilmember Place 4 at the May 21 City Council meeting.

Because no candidate received 50% + 1 of the vote in the Place 1 race, a runoff election between Jerrel W. Reynolds and Brandy McCool has been called for June 13.

We want to give you a heads up- trash and recycling service may be potentially delayed starting Tuesday of next week. Our service provider is currently navigating a bereavement on their team, and as a result, they anticipate being behind on routes.

We understand this may be frustrating and inconvenient, and we hear you. We appreciate your patience as their team works through this. Please continue to place your trash out on your regular service day. If it is not collected, leave it out and crews will service it the following business day.

We’ll continue to share updates as we receive more information. Thank you for your understanding!

For this week's , we’re proud to spotlight the Aguilar + Chapa family- longtime Hutto residents with deep roots in our community.

Dating back to the early 1900s, generations of the Aguilar and Chapa families have called Hutto home. Since then, the family’s connection to Hutto has continued to grow- through schools, service, and shared history. In the 1970s, the Aguilar family worked local farms to support their household, spending long days hauling hay, chopping cotton, and picking pecans by hand in the Texas heat.

Education has remained a constant across generations, with family members attending Hutto ISD for decades. Along the way, they’ve also been part of meaningful milestones- Delia Chapa Rodriguez is recognized as one of the first Hispanic graduates of Hutto ISD, and Rose Aguilar McMillin made history as one of the first Hispanics elected to Hutto City Council. A story of hard work, resilience, and generations of impact here in Hutto.

The first image shows some of the Aguilar women hauling hay in 1995 and the second image shows them doing the same in 1975. The third image is of the family chopping cotton in 1975. And the last one shows children of the family picking pecans in 1973.
