Officers Glass and Baptiste were given a letter of commendation for their exceptional response to the critical incident at the Hutto Home Depot on August 14th, 2026.
Officer Ibarra was presented a chief's challenge coin for his hard work, dedication, and commitment to serving our community.

Chief Yarbrough may be a rookie in the Hero of Hope challenge… but don’t count him out.

He’s up against some seasoned chiefs. They’ve got experience—but they haven't competed against the Chief with “Bro” in his name.

This is about more than bragging rights. It’s about raising money for the Williamson County Children's Advocacy Center and helping kids and families impacted by abuse.

5:15pm UPDATE: Oncor has restored the power to the lights and they are working properly. Thank you all for traveling through the area safely.

The traffic lights at CR 137 and FM 1660 South are out due to a power line being hit during construction in the area. Oncor is on their way to fix it! Officers are currently working a collision in the intersection of CR 132 and Limmer Loop. Please use an alternate route while officers work to get the vehicles removed from the roadway.

National Night Out is approaching quickly!

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community.

This year, National Night Out in Texas will be held Tuesday, October 6th.

Hutto, Texas has been holding National Night Out activities for over 10 years. Police Officers, Firefighters, Paramedics, and City Officials spend the evening going around to as many of the locations as possible. We are there to engage, answer questions, have fun with the kids, and especially eat some food and desserts.

If you want to host a block party in your neighborhood, you can email Officer Tawni Moody at [email protected]. (Office Phone 512-759-5989). Officer Moody will need the subdivision name, location of the gathering, the timeframe of your event and at least one, but preferably two points of contact with phone numbers and email addresses.

The Hutto Police Department responded to a report of possible gunshots near Howard Norman Elementary School. Officers conducted a full sweep of the school's interior and exterior and deployed drones to search the surrounding area. No evidence was found to substantiate the report, and no indication of any incident was identified. There is no threat related to the campus or surrounding area related to this reported concern, and HPD has cleared the scene.

Heads up Hutto, dove season opens September 1st! The hunt starts at the break of dawn. (½ hour before sunrise until sunset.)

There is a strong possibility that you will hear multiple gunshots in the mornings and evenings. Dove hunting is very normal in this area, as we are surrounded by a large amount of undeveloped acreage and agricultural properties. If you have any questions or concerns, please call our non-emergency dispatch number at 512-864-8282
