Pocket Paintings is going back to the Jurassic Period this summer!

Our Pocket Paintings Program creates the perfect environment to unwind with a guided art experience that you can make your own, soft music, and great conversation. We also have reading recommendations so you can continue building a creative practice at home!

This month we have two opportunities to paint a folk art inspired Triceratops skull inspired by real discoveries made by paleontologists, great fiction such as Jurassic Park by Michael Chrichton, and the 1994 film of the same name.

Relax, unwind, and get creative at the library! All skill levels are welcome.

Registration is required. Please choose the date that works best for you.

#22: Ellen Fultz, Spring Things

Born in Missouri and growing up in Wyoming, Ellen Fultz moved constantly throughout the West for her husband's oil field career. These moves gave her the opportunity to study under many significant artists throughout the area. She became a recognized oil painter, especially for her floral compositions. From serving on the Oklahoma Art Director Board to judging art entries at the Wyoming State Fair, she loved participating in the art community.

One of the pieces from our upcoming art auction will be this beautiful scene created by Maleta Forsberg, a well-known artist from Lindsborg!

#81: Maleta Forsberg, Corn Stalks

Born in Iola, Kansas, Maleta Forsberg made a home and flourishing art career in Lindsborg, Kansas. Although she was always eager to take a class or workshop in art, she was largely self-taught. Besides watercolor, oils, and acrylics, she also designed several stained glass installations for area churches. This painting exemplifies her passion for celebrating local beauty.
