At this week's council meeting, Mayor Wilson presented the City of Hurst flag flown at half-staff, in memory of former Councilmember Anna Holzer, to her family. Anna Holzer served on the Hurst City Council for 24 years and numerous other boards and commissions prior to becoming a City Councilmember. Anna’s dedication to the Hurst community was evident through her service to the City of Hurst and community organizations. We are grateful for her public service and legacy.

A proclamation was presented to Amateur Radio Operators to recognize and honor them for their countless hours of community services. They have provided free radio communications for local parades, bike-a-thons, fairs, and other events. They also serve as weather spotters in the Sky Warn Program of the US Government Weather Bureau. We appreciate the dedication and hard work of these individuals and thank them for their service to our community.

The Coffee Shop is officially open! Come visit us at this city-owned and operated coffee shop. This project was a true community collaboration. Students in HEB ISD’s Architectural and Interior Design program contributed to the floor plan and interior design ideas in 2025. Now that The Coffee Shop is open, students in the Moving into Adult Roles and Communities (MARC) program and the culinary program at the Buinger Career and Education Academy use the shop as a hands-on training ground, gaining real-world experience that will help them transition into the workforce. Day-to-day operations are led by part-time City-employed experienced baristas.

We invite you to be part of this community project and stop by for delicious coffee!

At last night’s council meeting, we celebrated our councilmembers. Councilmember Gary Waldron completed his time on the Hurst City Council at yesterday’s meeting after a total of 12 years of service to Hurst. Gary served on the Hurst Community Arts and Historic Landmark Preservation Committee 2014-2015, Neighborhood and Community Advisory Committee 2015-2016, and Parks and Recreation Board serving from 2016-2020. His leadership and desire to further serve the community led to service as a City Councilmember from 2020-2026. During his time as a Councilmember, the City experienced strong economic development, redevelopment, and revitalization.

Mayor Henry Wilson and Councilmembers Trasa Cobern and Cathy Butler Brotherton ran unopposed this election and were sworn in at the meeting for another two-year term. Cathy will serve as Mayor Pro Tem this year. Alan Heaton also ran unopposed this election and was sworn in to fill Gary Waldron’s place. Alan is retired full-time and enjoys woodworking and volunteering with 6 Stones Mission Network when he is not visiting his three children and seven grandchildren, who currently live in various cities throughout Texas. He looks forward to helping the City to reach the goals they set forth each year.

Please join us in thanking Gary Waldron for his service to our community and welcoming Alan Heaton to the Hurst City Council!
